Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table at the Greater Bedford Farm & Craft Market this week!

We introduced several new items, including our Cherry Almond Scones, fresh-milled bagels, and challah bread.

The response was incredible. Our Cherry Almond Scones nearly sold out, our Everything Bagels sold out completely, and only one challah loaf remained by the end of the market.

We appreciate everyone who stopped to chat, sample, and support our small family bakery.

Which item would you like to see us keep on the menu?

From a pile of lumber to a finished chicken coop. 🐔

After months of planning, building, and plenty of hard work, our coop is finally stained and ready for laying hens.

One of our goals for Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen has always been producing more of our own food right here on the homestead. We’re still a little while away from bringing home our hens, but we’re getting closer to the day we’ll be collecting fresh free-range eggs for our family and baking.

We’re excited to share the next chapter with you!

When we started baking with freshly milled flour, it wasn't long before we found ourselves wanting more than just bread.

Burger buns, bagels, pasta, dinner rolls... once you get used to the flavour and character of freshly milled flour, it's hard not to imagine all the possibilities.

These burger buns were made for a family supper and they turned out so well that we're considering adding them to our offerings in the future.

Would fresh milled burger buns be something you'd be interested in seeing from Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen?

🫐 Wild Blueberry Scones 🫐

Made with flour milled fresh in our kitchen and wild blueberries handpicked from our homestead.

These were one of our best sellers at the market today! One customer shared a scone with a friend, and she loved it so much she came back to buy more.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table today. We were also excited to meet several people who told us they found us through Facebook.

We appreciate every purchase, every share, and every kind word.

We’ll be back at the Trenton Station Fresh & Local Market next Sunday from 11–2.

Have you ever seen what's inside a wheat berry?

This photo shows the three main parts of the grain: the bran, germ, and endosperm.

In conventional roller milling, the bran and germ are removed, leaving primarily the starchy endosperm to become white flour.

The bran and germ are where much of the grain's fiber, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and flavor are found. Removing them creates a flour with a longer shelf life, but it also means losing many of the components that make whole grain so nutritious and delicious.

At Honey Blue Homestead, we mill whole wheat berries fresh and bake with the entire grain. Because nothing is removed, those naturally occurring nutrients remain part of the flour we use throughout our baking.

It's a different approach, but one we believe is worth the extra effort.

A few years ago, we had never even heard of fresh milled flour.

Now we can't imagine baking any other way.

Every loaf we bake starts with whole grains that we mill fresh ourselves right here at Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen. The flavour, aroma, and texture are what made us fall in love with fresh milled baking in the first place.

This Sunday we'll be bringing fresh milled breads, rolls, scones, cookies, and more to the Trenton Station Fresh & Local Market.

If, like us a few years ago, you've never heard of fresh milled flour or you've been curious about it, come say hello and try a sample. We think one bite explains it better than we ever could.

🌾 Our first market day is in the books! 🌾

Today was Honey Blue Homestead Kitchen’s very first market, and we just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, sampled our fresh-milled baking, asked questions, shared encouragement, and supported a brand-new local business.

What started as baking for family, friends, and fellowship meals has grown into something we never imagined. Standing behind our table today and talking with people about fresh-milled flour, wholesome ingredients, and homemade baking was such a blessing.

We loved meeting so many of you and hearing your stories.

If you stopped by today, we’d love to know:
🥖 What was your favorite item?
🍪 Did you try the Midnight Triple Chunk Cookies?
🫐 How did you like the Wild Blueberry Scones?

Thank you for helping make our first market day so special. We can’t wait to see everyone again next week!
