I recently came back from a trip to London & Amsterdam (my Dutch friends got married 🥹💖) and of course, my trip was filled with pastries & baked goods!
First off, the grooms asked me to baked cookies for their wedding day. I couldn’t have been more honoured! I even brought over some marshmallows from home (because you can’t find them in the Netherlands)… skip to the last slide to see how in love they were with them haha.
Even though I used the exact same recipes from back home to make the cookies there - they came out differently. It always fascinates me how the science of baking works. I noticed that their products come in much smaller packaging and honestly they are probably better quality than what we have in North America.
Regardless, the cookies turned out great & were a hit with the Dutch :)
As for London - don’t get me started on how good the bakeries are there. Endless amazing options.
I only had a short while, but made sure to stop in to for their Chai Apple Spice Croissant (to die for) and the burnt butter and spelt chocolate chip cookie. Also went to for their homemade Yuzu Jaffa Cake, everything but the bagel croissant, and a vegan soy sauce cookie (yes, soy sauce! It was incredible). I couldn’t recommend both spots enough!!
Anyways - all of this to say that I’ve been in a bit of a creative rut lately, but this trip really inspired my creative baking brain & you will now find me in the kitchen testing out some new recipes 👩🏻🍳
Would also love to hear if you have any favourite treats that you discovered while travelling!?

ps. I also highly recommend eating homemade “Poffertjes” (mini pancakes) & “Boterkoek” (buttercake) in the Netherlands! Even better when your friends bake it for you after a long travel day!
