It was probably one of those days that I shouldn’t have tried to do anything, but nevertheless I did. I haven’t made macarons since I think my trip to Paris but wanted to indulge and have a sweet treat to share with my French class since my presentation is all about cooking and baking. Voila, Raspberry Macarons for their and my enjoyment their friends the chocolate macarons made to the green bin because they were made of evil apparently and didn’t want to behave.

I’ve also had a bit of a hiatus from full on baking for the last while, life happens, studying for a professional exam (I passed!) and a new kitten in my life who believes he’s Gordon Ramsey and won’t leave me be in the kitchen.

Apple season is here... and pie season. Coincidence? I think not.

With thanksgiving tomorrow I made an apple pie and topped it with a pastry tree and falling maple leaves. Just pulled out of the oven and it smells amazing.

There's possible good news if you're counting calories: Research from the University of British Columbia suggests calories from sugar can be lost during the baking process, so what's shown on a food label may not reflect the calories consumed.

I had the privilege to make cupcakes for CycleBar Leaside for their first birthday. Thanks Cydney for asking me to do these, I had a lot of fun piping out spin bikes and the CycleBar logo. The cupcakes were all iced with butter cream icing and the cupcakes with the logo were red velvet and the others with the bikes were vanilla. Hope the celebrations were great and I am sure all those calories were worked off quickly with a spin class!
