Kokum's Bannock and Beyond I am a home Bakery/Caterer. I specialize in making Bannock. My name is Caroline and I own this business. We now are doing some catering too.

I started out making cakes and bannock as one of the ways of coping with the tragic loss of my youngest son. The loss of my son affected my ability to continue working in the social services/mental health field. Eventually, I started baking and cooking as a way to cope with our loss. After our loss some of my grandchildren started becoming fulltime immediately. (at one point we had 6 grandchildren

living with us) Gaining the children fulltime during tremendous grief also made me decide I need to stay home with the children. Kokum's Bannock and Beyond is continuing to thrive and grow. I want others to know we can continue to live life even though a piece of us is forever missing. Miigwech to each and everyone of you for your support. Remember you are loved and wanted. Never think you are not good enough. (of course this is just a few words of what actually happened to us)

Yesterday was 9 years since my youngest had took his own life. There is not a day I don't think of my son. Nobody deserves to feel so unwanted and so insecure that you decide it's time to leave this world. No family deserves to feel this loss.
Despite his leaving us too soon we have done our best to be here for eachother. I have been through so much 😪. Unexplainable!
Miigwech to extended family and community members who have been there through out the years. I usually provide a meal on the 26th of July every year for my family and whoever wants to join. This year I wasn't going to because of all the havoc the loss of our community has caused us. Then something happened. I got a message from Arlene she says I am going to cook for you! My heart skipped a beat! And she sure did she prepared us a feast. How do I ever thank her for this? I had our meal to remember Devin. I asked her how can I ever repay you. She replied I want my bowls back.
Hehe
May my son continue to rest.
As you know he is the reason I started Kokum's Bannock and Beyond my way of coping and healing
