Everyone knows the phrase, βBe kind to everyone. You never know what they are going through.β
I really messed up last week and completely forgot to put a customer in my calendar. When they messaged to check on a pick up for the next day, my heart sank. How could I forget? After sending my sincerest, heartfelt apology, I felt sick about it and still do! Whatever horrible things she could have said, she didnβt. She showed me kindness when I let her down. I truly have the best customers!
One of the reasons my brain is so scattered these days is because my beautiful mother has been diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer. She has already had a very difficult three years and I have been her primary caregiver. Itβs been a lot and although we are hopeful she will do well with her treatments, there is great uncertainty due to her underlying medical issues.
This prolonged stress sent me to the ED last weekend with extended heart palpitations. I needed to be sedated and shocked back into a normal rhythm. Iβm fine, but Iβm not going to lie, it was a bit unnerving. Iβm not telling you this to get your sympathy. I just want to remind you that a smile can be genuine and still hide many things.
My regular customers already know that I will always confirm your order with you the week or so before your pick up date. If youβve placed an order with me and I havenβt confirmed with you, please message me! I know itβs not your job to do my job for me. Iβm only asking for your continued patience and kindness as we navigate the coming weeks of worry and uncertainty.
All orders that have been placed for the coming weeks are in the book, totally manageable and a good distraction for me. Iβve sadly had to cap the number of orders so I can do all the things that need to be done for everyone. I sincerely apologize to those of you requesting orders for your celebrations that Iβve had to decline. You know Iβd love to be able to be a part of those events and it saddens me to say no. I sincerely hope you think of me in the future.
