Apologies to anyone who was still planning on coming out today but we are SOLD OUT so I have closed the farmstand.

Thank you to everyone who popped in today. It was great fun seeing all of you. We’ll be back next weekend and it seems I need to make even more!!!

We will have SO MUCH BREAD for you on Saturday! I kind of got carried away mixing bread today so there will be an abundance on Saturday morning. Fresh blueberry and apple pies and crumbles will be ready for your enjoyment as well. The perfect treats for the long weekend — why stop at just one?

Third year of retirement and third year I’ve sat and watched the busses go by on the first day of school. My heart goes out to my educator friends who are dealing with thunder, lightning, pouring rain and indoor recesses during the usual chaos of day one! Have you had a chance to check out our beautifully handcrafted charcuterie boards? Made with dedication to his craft, my dad spends many hours creating these beautiful works of art for our farmstand. He started woodworking back in grade 4 and now (at 85!), he’s gotten rather good at it!

Tons of tasty treats this Saturday! It’s apple season so apple pies and crumbles are on the menu. Carrot cakes with cream cheese icing. Piles of freshly baked bread. Cookies. Triple chocolate brownies. It’s going to be a very yummy day at the farmstand.

UPDATE: the sourdough worked!!! We have a limited number of loaves of original and garlic/parmesan/rosemary but we do have it! Woohoo!!!

What do we have to tantalize your tastebuds this Saturday? That’s a really good question! After yesterday’s sourdough debacle, there’s a chance I’ve fixed the starter problem. I’ll know for sure early tomorrow morning when I go to bake the loaves currently proofing in the fridge. But even if they work, sourdough will be limited tomorrow.

HOWEVER!!! We have cheese bread, cheddar and ale bread, blueberry pies and crumbles, apple crumbles, carrot cakes, piles of cookies and all kinds of seasonal preserves for you to choose from!

Can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow.

Sometimes…things just don’t work. I knew my starter was sluggish and a bit acidic when I mixed bread last night. I knew it likely wasn’t going to work but I had an order to fill so…I made it anyway. So much wasted time, effort and ingredients. These rock hard pancakes were destined for Creasy’s in the morning but they’ll be heading to the garbage instead. I’ve worked on my starter today and hopefully I’ll be able to mix new bread in the morning for Saturday’s farmstand. Time will tell.
