Last weekend of summer!! ☀️😭 How did THAT happen?!

I had to go into work two days this week… boo! 👎🏼😂 Apparently summer break can’t last forever.

But I came home to the sweetest cupcakes made by my youngest. 🧁💕 She asked me, “Would you have rather stayed home and baked with me instead of going to work?”

Yes, baby goose. Always. 🥹💕 No question.

Maybe I’ve got a future baker on my hands… and honestly, I wouldn’t be mad about it. 🧁

Soaking up every last little bit of summer before we’re officially back to reality!

Ridiculous story ahead 😂
I made these extra-large Black Forest cupcakes for my friend’s birthday because it was the first time all six of us were going to be together for a birthday celebration in a few months. 🥹❤️

I knew I had to leave a little early because my husband had to work that night, but I figured I’d have plenty of time to enjoy some cupcakes and catch up with my friends.

Well… right as we’re singing Happy Birthday, my husband calls. 😳

Apparently, there was a random dude lying in the middle of the driveway across the street, and he was uncomfortable leaving the kids on their own (my oldest is 14) because he wasn’t sure what was going on.

So naturally, I had to rush home. 🤦‍♀️

The police were called and showed up, and it turns out the guy was Uber drunk. At one point, he apparently woke up and claimed he was just… doing snow angels. 😂

Thankfully, nothing crazy happened after that, and the guy moved out about a week later. But seriously… you can’t make this stuff up.

Now, back to the important part: THE CUPCAKES. 🧁

I was told they were delicious! Rich chocolate cake with a little cavity cut out in the middle and filled with cherry pie filling, topped with whipped cream icing, a cherry 🍒 and chocolate shavings to finish them off.

So apparently I made birthday cupcakes… and got a side of neighbourhood chaos for free. 😂

I was scrolling through my phone when I came across a photo of a cake I made a couple of years ago but never posted. I couldn’t remember why—and for a moment, I couldn’t even remember who it was for.
Then it all came rushing back.

A woman in our community was dying of breast cancer, but she wanted to have her wedding before that time came. She was looking for someone to make her cake, and I knew I wanted to do it.

She provided the flowers and asked for a simple two-tiered cake. For me, it was a gift—a small way of bringing a little beauty and happiness into a time filled with so much uncertainty.

I’m glad I found this photo again. Some cakes carry a story that deserves to be remembered. 🤍

What a WEEKEND. 🎭🧁⚾️🥈
We wrapped up audition prep camp for my oldest, baked a dozen champagne cupcakes, survived TWO baseball tournaments (with one ending in a ✨silver medal✨), and somehow made it to Monday.

And now? It’s early afternoon and I have accomplished… absolutely nothing. 😂

But honestly? I’m not mad about it. Slowly sipping coffee ☕️, recovering from the weekend chaos, and thinking about how ridiculously delicious those champagne cupcakes were. 🧁🥂

Sometimes Monday productivity looks a lot like sitting still and pretending you’re “recharging.” 😉
