Fathers Day Weekend! June 20/21.

We’re going all out with butter tarts!

From Banoffee Butter Tarts, to Sticky Toffee Butter Tarts, to whiskey Bacon Butter Tarts and everything in between. I’ll have them in croissants and a couple of gluten friendly options as well!

Write it on your calendar so you don’t miss out! If we end up with some crowd favorites they may just stick around for a while!

My dad had this special talent. Almost every single street light he walked under would flicker or turn off. It was like clockwork. Maybe he just had some special type of energy about him. He had this special relationship with electricity. “I’ve got no time to turn that breaker off, I’ll just be careful”. We used to joke that he should never go out in a lightning storm because he’d be guaranteed to steal the light show. Every time I see a light flicker, or do something weird, I like to think that that’s him, doing what he does best, watching over us all.

Grief is one of those things that never really goes away. You just become better equipped to work with it. Tears turn to memories. And while the stories you tell may still pull at the heart, you slowly get more peace as you tell them. A common ground for everyone to come together and remember. Grief is an obstacle that you can’t dodge. You can’t jump over it, and you can’t go under it. You have to go straight through and weather the storm. What I can tell you is that the sun does come back out. And while I still have the occasional storm, I always know that the sun will shine again.

This is our second Father’s Day without him. I can’t physically give him a gift anymore, but we can still celebrate him. So this coming Father’s Day, my menu will be based entirely around his go to dessert. The Butter Tart. I’ll have more info in the coming days. I’m really looking forward to the menu I’m working on! 🙂.

Slow day means there’s time to play. I keep seeing everyone playing with cold foam, so here I am, doing my own little cold foam experiment.

Made myself an iced coffee. The only syrup I had on hand for a quick try was habanero, so this one was spicy!!

Spicy iced coffee with chocolate cold foam and chocolate drizzle. It was good! Could definitely tone down the heat, but next time I’ll whip up a plain simple syrup to try. I think we’re on to something!
