Douwe (Don) Nauta was born and raised in Workum, Netherlands where he worked at a small bakery while attending school. In January of 1977, Rudy Bootsma and Don Nauta purchased an existing bakery, Eric's Bakery, and renamed it Glamorgan Bakery. The name was chosen because of the location in the lovely SW Calgary community of Glamorgan. Rudy and Don continued to work together for several years befor
e the Nauta family operated the business on their own for a long time. The bakery transitioned to new ownership in 2021, and the Brouwer family continues with the same great recipes and customer service; promising the same values of integrity, and quality, and the focus on community continues. Several of our employees have been with us for over 10 years and we acknowledge the experience they contribute to our business and their willingness to adapt as the business continues to grow. We also enjoy employing new to Canada as well as younger staff, for some of them it’s their first place of employment! Glamorgan Bakery is popular for its famous Cheese buns. We bake them fresh every day in both the traditional white bun dough and also whole wheat. A delicious chocolate chip variation is also available! We carry many other fresh products and are proud to share that all items are baked on location in our small, but mighty and fast-paced bakery.
