Rich Nutella custard filling, topped with silky milk chocolate ganache, chocolate shortcrust pastry pieces, roasted hazelnuts and a dusting of cocoa.

This was one of our featured doughnuts for World Nutella Day earlier this year, and it clearly made an impression, taking out ⭐ First Place ⭐ in the Gourmet Doughnut category at the 2026 National Doughnut Competition!

We packed up the doughies, set the alarms ridiculously early and headed to the National Doughnut Competition on the Gold Coast, hosted by the Baking Association of Australia.
And guess what?

We are absolutely over the moon!

A huge shoutout goes to our Head Chef, Kal. He dreamt up the flavours, perfected the recipes, baked through the night, then somehow found enough energy to jump on a 6am flight with Matt to make it to the competition.

The talent, dedication and passion he pours into DoughHeads every single day is something special, and these awards are a testament to that. We feel incredibly lucky to have him leading our kitchen.

To our customers who support our crazy flavour ideas, buy the doughies, share our posts and keep coming back for more - thank you. We couldn’t do this without you.

Kal’s been busy in the kitchen again, experimenting with new ideas, and this one was too good not to share.

Soft, fluffy scrolls loaded with maple goodness and topped with crispy bacon. Sweet. Salty. Slightly ridiculous. Exactly how we like it.
