Dear Newcastle Community and to our amazing regulars and friends, From 1 July, you will notice a small adjustment to our menu prices. This is a decision we did not make lightly. Recently, the Australian government introduced a mandatory 4.75% Fair Work award wage increase, alongside new regulatory parameters regarding credit card processing fees. Operating an independent hospitality business within these strict parameters is incredibly difficult in today’s economic climate. Rather than cutting corners on the premium ingredients you love—like our barista-grade alternative milks, fresh sourdough bagels, and freshly grated Cadbury chocolate—we have updated our base prices to absorb these rising operational costs. As a positive change, we have completely removed credit card surcharges at the register. The price you see on the menu board is exactly what you will pay at checkout. Independent venues across Australia are facing a very challenging environment right now. We choose to be completely transparent with you because your loyal support is the only reason we can keep our doors open and our kitchen firing.
