On Ya Bike FNQ On road supervision of Learner riders in the 3 month lead up to your RE (O). Focus on safety and road craft.

This page is a celebration of the achievements of Learner motorcycle riders. Those riders who have sought our guidance to help them from nervous, unsure Learners, to confident competent RE (O) riders, and beyond. This page, although promoting our desire to assist you in your learner motorcycle journey, is also a celebration of riders new and experienced; with a little bit of humour thrown into the equation.

First ride today for Miss H on her BMW GS. Nervous beginnings were soon forgotten as she practiced figure 8's at Yorkeys carpark.
The lady who rode home was much more confident than the one who rode out.

Had the absolute pleasure of hanging out and riding with this lady today. I first met Sheryle and her hubby a few weeks ago. They share a beaut little CMX500 Rebel.
Now, Sheryle is a tiny lady, and has trouble reaching the ground on some bikes, so the Rebel is perfect in seat height for her. However, when it comes to the physical weight of the bike, riding position, and reach to the handlebars, the Rebel can be a little intimidating.
Not so the little cb125.
Perfect seat height, body position up over the tank, and light as a feather. Very VERY confidence inspiring to THIS lady.
Sheryle absolutely smashed her figure 8's this morning, where previously, she wasn't confident to even attempt on the Rebel.
HUGE GAINS TODAY for her overall confidence. We will be working towards her RE(O) later in the year, and she's looking forward to this achievement.
Have to say, I was extremely happy with the confidence Sheryle displayed today. She was in total control of the bike, and she knew it.
If you're holding back because you can't find the bike that fits you; if you're a tiny lady.... a little vertically challenged (like most of us), come ride the little bike that the riding schools use.
Get your confidence.
Get your RE(O)

Managed to get a ride in with Brendan this week. Brushing up on skills in the carpark, riding suburban back roads, tackling hill starts etc. Work and other commitments can make it difficult sometimes, but we were lucky to score a perfect day, with perfect FNQ weather (unlike the last time we rode, hey Brendan).
RE(O) locked in.

Managed to dodge the showers today for a new learner who hasn't ridden a bike since his pre-learner course. Some slow drills in the carpark before we travelled some picturesque back roads towards Gordonvale, Packer's Camp, Mount Peter and return.
Hill start, highway speeds, gusty winds, roundabouts and some busy main street traffic didn't phase him at all.
Waiting on his bike to be delivered, then it's all systems go for this lad.
Thanks for riding with me today. Was an absolute pleasure.

Still here.
Still following L riders and passing on years of experience and advice to help keep you safe on the roads.
How's this gorgeous weather in FNQ. Time to get your ride on.
If you've completed your QRIDE pre learner course, you're good to go.
Our aim is to improve your confidence at YOUR pace. Getting you familiar with your bike so that riding becomes second nature. Developing your muscle memory through regular practice is the best way to achieve this. Helping you ease out of your comfort zone so that you can confidently build the skills required to progress to your restricted open licence. Goodbye L plate. Goodbye chaperone.
If you don't have a bike to practice on, we have a CB125 for our learner riders. You will be familiar with this bike from your Pre Learner course.
Have recently had the pleasure of helping a couple who share a lovely, new to them CMX500.
Each individual is at opposite end of their riding journey, but making steady progress towards their open licences.
Check out the awesome blue sky backdrop.
Cairns is certainly turning on some perfect weather right now.
If you'd like to make a move but your not quite sure, call or text for more information.

In Queensland, drivers must give way to all vehicles already in a roundabout.

Traffic moves clockwise; always use the left indicator when exiting, regardless of whether you are turning left, right, or going straight.

For multi-lane roundabouts, use the left lane for left turns/straight, and the right lane for right turns/U-turns, unless arrows indicate otherwise.

Key Rules and Procedures:

Give Way:
You must yield to any vehicle already in the roundabout, including those approaching from your right, left, or straight ahead.

Signalling

Left Turn:
Indicate left on approach and keep left until exited.

Right Turn:
Indicate right on approach and continue to signal right until you are ready to exit, then signal left to exit.

Straight Ahead:
Do not indicate on approach. You must indicate left when exiting.

Lane Selection:

Left Turn:
Use the left lane.

Right Turn:
Use the right lane.

Straight Ahead:
Use either lane, unless road markings dictate otherwise.

Exiting:
Always signal left to exit, if practicable.

U-Turns: Position in the right lane, indicate right on approach, and exit by signalling left.

Small/Single Lane Roundabouts:

While you should always indicate when leaving, it may not be practical on very small, single-lane roundabouts.

Safety Tips

Slow down when approaching, as you may need to stop.

Watch for lane arrows.

Be aware of cyclists and pedestrians.

Lovely to meet this young man today, and start him off in the carpark with some figure 8's, controlled starts and stops, before heading out on the open road.
Don't tell him i said so, but for someone who hasn't ridden since his pre-learner course, he's somewhat of a natural.
Got him in amongst some traffic, with round-abouts, and even threw a very steep hill start at him. Didn't phase him one bit.
Good job Mr C.
Don't forget to text me when you pass your RE(O) course 🙌
