This week I decided to bake a cake for the family... Not only did the ingredients cost me close to R250 but I spent around 2 and a half hours in the kitchen. Needless to say my cake came out looking like a "nailed it" post 😂 and I just got to thinking... If I was a baker ( and clearly I am not) what I would have had to charge for that cake to actually make a profit ( taking into consideration that I was not spending time with my kiddies but rather making a complete mess in my kitchen) The sad reality is if I had to charge R500 ( which nobody would pay as this is what is known to people these days as "paying an arm and a leg" or " ridiculous for JUST a cake") I would have made a measly R250! for 2 and a half hours in the kitchen not accounting for the petrol, time it took to buy the ingredients, the electricity used to bake the cake, the consumables used to package the cake and the clean-up after 🙈

So I just wanted to take a minute to stand up and say... RESPECT! Respect to all the mommy bakers out there that are trying to make a living and contribute to their families by baking their hearts out for MINIMUM profit (in my opinion).

And just because you are not allowed to say it ;) I will! People stop with the " looking for (insert item here) that doesn't cost an arm or a leg" Anyone who is providing a service is doing so at the cost of their time and time away from their loved ones. So support these awesome people without trying to squeeze them for their lowest price. Pay them with a smile and know you are supporting a business run on hours of dedication and on pure love. Respect ladies ( and to all other small business owners :)
