Rays stretch JHB → Cape Town → back to Durban

One asteroid hit here 108 MILLION years ago.
T-Rex was still roaming Earth.
Dinosaurs hadn’t even heard of meteor problems yet.
Debris flew further than our whole country.
Still glowing bright tonight.

Just look at this beauty in my garden...👌
This is an Anthurium, commonly called "Flamingo Flower" or "Laceleaf".

■The heart-shaped, waxy, deep red part isn’t actually a petal - it’s a modified leaf called a "spathe".
■The white, finger-like spike sticking up is the "spadix", where the tiny real flowers are.
■The water droplets on the glossy surface are typical - they’re often grown in humid conditions.

It’s one of those plants that looks like plastic but it’s 100% real.

🐛This is not a worm, it’s a moth in the making.
Meet Grumblepuff — the Cape lappet caterpillar, Middelburg’s underrated weird guy 🐛

This is Eutricha Capensis, one of SA’s most common hairy caterpillars. Right now Grumblepuff’s all grey and fuzzy, but young ones rock bright orange and purple tufts before they grow into chunky brown moths.

Those hairs aren’t just for show — they’re defense. Look, don’t touch, or you’ll get itchy skin.

SA gardens are wild even when you’re not looking. 🌿
