About the weekend.

When my brother turned 21, I was more excited than Him! I had so many ideas. He loves hamburgers, so I made him Hamburger Cupcakes.

They look like really little hamburgers complete with chips

The top my creation the bottom my "pinsperation"(pinterest inspiration) I even packed them in 'take out' boxes.

Nice to "meet" you.

Let me introduce myself.

My name is Corlia.
I am at my happiest when I can share a slice of cake with a friend. Baked cheesecake is my favourite.

I have been baking since I can remember (baking my own birthday cakes from grade 4). My love for baking started with all the time I spent with Gran baking cookies for our vacations. (Gran is also the one who baked us awesome birthday cakes as kids.)

Why start a business now?
Previously I was afraid that if I pursue baking as a career, I will lose my LOVE for baking. Also, I did not want to be the cake ‘tannie’, but I am her anyway. I love baking for friends and family as gifts.

After losing my job in 2020 because of you-know-why, I was battling to find something that excites me. I seriously considered to start baking, but fear was still holding me back. One morning, part of the Bible plan I was reading was Ecclesiastes 3:2-4 ESV.

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."

After reading that, 2 things stood out for me:
1: I was mourning (my job loss) and weeping that time has now passed.
2: It was time to build, laugh and dance!

Now I am building a small part of my dream!
