🫀 Researchers are looking at Rooibos in a much more detailed way than before, including how it may influence the heart itself.
A recent South African study used cardiac ultrasound to monitor participants before and after a 12-week Rooibos intervention. Rather than only measuring blood markers, researchers observed structural changes in heart function over time.
📊 Participants consuming Rooibos showed improvements linked to cardiovascular health, including changes in the left atrium, an area often associated with elevated heart risk.
Earlier studies had already connected Rooibos with lower LDL cholesterol, reduced oxidative stress and improved lipid profiles. This newer research adds another layer to the conversation.
💡 It’s still early-stage science, and larger studies are needed. But it is interesting to see a caffeine-free herbal infusion continuing to attract serious cardiovascular research.
A simple cup, with more going on behind the scenes than most people realise. 🌿
