AI Designed it. The Cake House made it.
Recreating AI-generated cake images has become one of my main 'hobbies' 😂 And I'm pretty sure every cake artist and baker out there can relate.
AI is changing the world at lightning speed, and our industry is no exception. These days, clients arrive with stunning AI-generated cake designs that seem to defy gravity, physics, and occasionally common sense! 😅. I've accepted that AI is here to stay, but I always have an honest conversation with my clients before quoting. I explain that I can't compete with AI's computer-generated image. What I can do is bring the concept to life and create a real cake inspired by the design.Thankfully, clients have been incredibly understanding. In fact, I have yet to meet a client who wasn't happy once they understood the difference between a digital fantasy and a handcrafted cake.To my fellow bakers and cake artists: don't lose heart. AI may generate the picture, but it can't replace your skill, creativity, experience, problem-solving, and the countless hours you've spent perfecting your craft. The magic still happens in your hands.
Below, on the left, is an AI-generated design and on the right the cake I created o. Was it identical? No. Was the client thrilled? Absolutely! 😊

Every now and then I finish a cake and have one of those moments where I stand back and think, "Did I really do that?" 😊
Looking at these dinosaurs, you might think I used toys or edible prints (and sometimes we do use those!), but these little guys were actually handmade using a technique called bas relief.
Bas relief is the art of creating a picture by building up layers of fondant modelling paste by hand, using a combination of modelling tools, patience, and a fair bit of concentration! Each detail is carefully shaped and layered to bring the design to life.
It's one of those techniques that reminds me why I love what I do. There's always something new to learn, create, and occasionally surprise myself with!

It's been ages since I created a sculpted cake, and I absolutely loved every moment of bringing this masterpiece to life! 👑✨. And yes... before you ask... 😉 it is a cake! Our Buttermilk Madeira was the perfect textured cake to work with.
From the intricate detailing and embellishments to the delicate florals and sparkling accents, this royal-inspired design was a true labour of love.
This elegant crown cake reminded me why I fell in love with cake artistry in the first place.

Traditional sugar craft will always hold a special place in my heart. What started as a childhood hobby is now a full on business!
Every daisy, bluebell, baby carnation and cosmos on this cake was handcrafted using traditional sugar craft techniques — a skill that takes patience, precision and hours of delicate work. While modern contemporary cake trends continue to take centre stage, these timeless floral techniques are slowly becoming a dying art.There’s something truly magical about preserving the beauty of classic sugar flowers and celebrating the craftsmanship behind them.

Somewhere over the rainbow… the sweetest celebration came to life for little Makai’s 2nd birthday 🌈✨
