**For the women who stood before us… ❤️**
Today, we celebrate the women who stood up when standing up came at a cost.
The women who spoke when they were told to be silent.
Who walked when they were told to stay.
Who fought when surrender would have been easier.
Who broke barriers they were told could never be broken.
They challenged injustice. They raised their voices. They marched, protested, sacrificed, endured and refused to accept a life where their daughters would have fewer opportunities than their sons.
Some were celebrated. Many were not.
Some became names in history books. Others remained nameless — mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters and ordinary women who did extraordinary things simply because they believed **we deserved better.**
Because of their courage, we can dream bigger.
Because of their sacrifices, we have choices.
Because they refused to accept *“this is just how things are,”* we have the freedom to say, **“This can be better.”**
But their fight does not end with them.
We carry their courage in us.
So let us never take our freedoms for granted. Let us use our voices. Let us stand up for one another. Let us open doors for the women coming behind us and make sure they never have to fight the same battles alone.
**To the women who stood up against everything so we could have a better life — we see you, we honour you, and we thank you.**
And to every woman standing today:
**Stand tall. Speak loudly. Take up space. Be unapologetically you.**
You are not only living the life they fought for.
**You are part of the reason the women after you will have an even better one.** ❤️
**We stand on the shoulders of women who refused to bow.**
