IS THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN ASKING YOU TO SIGN A BLANK CHEQUE? 📄✍️

The City has just launched a public comment period to permanently dispose of the King David Mowbray Golf Course (65+ hectares of prime public property) to make way for 8,600 households and 75,000 square meters of commercial space.

While spatial transformation and affordable housing are critical, the sequence of this planning process is deeply flawed. The City is asking the public to approve an irreversible land disposal BEFORE the facts even exist:

❌ Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)? Listed as future work.
❌ Heritage Impact Assessments (HIA)? Listed as future work.
❌ Sewer and water capacity confirmations? Listed as future work.

Worse yet, technical audits have exposed serious structural cracks in the plan:
🚨 The PRASA Fiction: The development concept relies entirely on a proposed new passenger rail station. Yet, PRASA’s Corporate Plans (up to 30 March 2026) contain absolutely ZERO mention or budget for this station. Without it, local roads will face permanent gridlock.
🚨 The Info Blackout: Crucial technical studies—including the official land valuation report and sewer grid capacities—are currently locked away behind fresh PAIA applications.
🚨 The Midnight Patch: On 27 May 2026—just hours before this public round opened—the Council passed a rushed new resolution (C39/05/26) to retroactively pull the actual golf course footprint into the mandate because their original framework was legally defective.

You are being asked to vote on a permanent change in your dark. We deserve better. We deserve planning based on proven evidence, not administrative shortcuts.

The most amazing array of beautiful flowers I’ve ever seen in room! . The day was extremely hot and humid and the gluten free carrot cake with cream cheese buttercream could not be displayed until the last sadly. But the venue was exquisitely decorated! With beautiful touches on the tables. The gluten free chocolate cupcakes added another touch to the dessert table. I love what I do!
