My husband took my usual delivery vehicle on a trip and left me with his bakkie.

Problem: this wedding cake did not fit in the front.
Solution: apparently we were transporting a three-tier wedding cake on the back of an open bakkie. 🤣😂

Don’t panic — it was properly closed up and protected before we left. But naturally I had to get photographic evidence of the few moments it sat there looking wildly inappropriate. 😂

And somehow, against all odds, it arrived absolutely perfect.

Cake delivery stress level: unnecessarily high. 🤣

The little gold ring on top was a precious family heirloom from the bride’s grandmother, so I wanted it to be something you actually noticed — not something that disappeared amongst too much detail.

I kept the florals soft and understated, letting the heirloom take its place as the most meaningful little detail on the cake. ✨

Sometimes the smallest element carries the biggest story. 🤍

His brief: simple. Fully iced. Definitely not semi-naked.

Every time I suggested something, the answer was basically, “Can we make it simpler?” 🤣

Eventually I had to break it to him: this is about as simple as I know how to do. 😂

White buttercream, a little cascade of fresh flowers and a touch of gold for 40. Simple-ish. 🤭✨

A slightly different kind of cake post today… because for once, I DIDN’T BAKE ANY OF IT. 😂💪
Some very special friends surprised me with the most magical Mad Hatter’s Tea Party 🫖🎩🌸✨ — and somehow decided that the appropriate thing to do for someone who spends her life baking was to bake for the baker. 🤣

And I have to say, arriving at a table full of homemade treats that required absolutely no effort from me was a VERY pleasant experience. 😂
