31/12/2025
2025 was a year that changed me completely.
I had a baby. And because of that, I spent most of this year away from my studio and very close to home, learning a whole new rhythm, one day (and night) at a time. Buttercup Cakery didn’t close — but it did slow down.
I returned briefly in October for Diwali classes and again in December for Christmas, and outside of that, my focus shifted to where it needed to be most. Even so, baking never really stopped.
Most nights, when my baby fell asleep, I found myself back in the kitchen.
Not making celebration cakes or piping intricate flowers — but baking simple things. Quick things.
Comforting things. Madeleines. Butter cookies.
Over and over again. Bakes my husband and I could enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee. It became a moment to decompress. A reminder of who I am outside of feeds, nappies, and long days.
And in that simplicity, something clicked.
This season of my life doesn’t call for fussy icing or complex processes. It calls for bakes that are intentional, delicious, and uncomplicated. From those quiet nights came a new idea.
In early 2026, I’ll be launching Urban Scallop — a more streamlined venture focused on travel cakes.
For now: madeleines. Maybe butter cookiess later.
Bakes designed to fit this chapter of my life as a mother — quick to bake, easy to share, and deeply satisfying.
Buttercup Cakery will continue — but with a gentler pace. My energy and focus will shift more intentionally toward Urban Scallop, while Buttercup remains part of my story.
So this post closes out Buttercup Cakery 2025 — not with an ending, but with an evolution.
If you’ve loved Buttercup, I hope you’ll follow and come along for this next chapter.
Different rhythm. Same heart.
Thank you for being here 🤍
