Koena's Rusks and Bakery is a family business founded by .13 and his mother, Ntebaleng Manyangaza in 2024. His mother grew up in a household of bakers in Rhodes Village and she took her passion for baking to the next level and her skills was recognised by where she worked there for over 15 years. She learnt a lot in the hospitality industry throughout the years and decided to study further to add more knowledge and experience to her skills.
She was always asked by her friends and relatives to help out cater for functions and she all did that by heart and passion without expecting anything in return for many years.
She is a hardworking woman that is always out there physically, mentally and spiritually hustling for her family and she always loves to help out people and make a difference in their lives that she sometimes do not get time for her own personal life duties.
Her son .13 decided to step up and take matters to business by helping his mother with his entrepreneurship skills. He always suggested that his mother should start making a profit from her alternative skills then she would not have to worry about certain bills that should be paid. It was difficult convincing her about business because nowadays in the black community it is almost impossible to convince parents because they never had the advantages and opportunities we have as the new generation. His mother always told him to just focus on his books and get good grades to have a decent work one day. He managed to convince his mother by asking her to bake rusks and he will sell a certain amount of buckets within a week and he managed to pull that off within 2 days and that is where it all started.
His dream is to retire his mother and take off the heavy work from her back and tackle it himself to water the family tree.
