Ethembeni Tribe of Hope

Ethembeni Tribe of Hope We are an independent, registered non-profit organisation with programmes aimed at enabling positive transformation in families.

We serve the community through :
Maternal Health :
Aimed at the first 1000 days of life, from the start of pregnancy until a child's 2nd birthday. We work closely with the Howick and Mpophomeni clinics, engaging with women and educating them about pregnancy, birth and motherhood. We have a pregnancy centre in Mpophomeni which is a safe space for pregnant women and moms with babies and toddlers w

here we run ante-natal classes, moms and tots groups, counselling and fathers support groups. Education Support :
Our Education Support centre works with 50/60 school children per day. These children receive homework assistance and extra classes in English, math and reading. We have a mentorship programme where we focus on the personal development of each child. Each Friday is a fun Friday where we run extra activities for the children such as cooking/baking, sewing, vegetable gardening and traditional dancing. Family Support :
We have a team that visits families in crisis every Thursday.

Working together with local clinics means we can serve the community efficiently.

Last week, our team was invited to speak to learners at a local high school about teenage pregnancy. We believe these conversations are vital in raising awareness and helping young people make informed choices. With teenage pregnancy rates continuing to rise, this is not a challenge that any one organization can address alone. It requires a united effort from families, schools, Healthcare services, the police and government to create lasting change and brighter futures for our youth.

We need your help ❤️

This is Bonelelo, one of our Education Support workers at Ethembeni.

Our children look up to him so much. He’s gentle, patient, and always there for them.

He grew up without parents and has had to work incredibly hard to get where he is. He funded his 3-year Psychology degree through NSFAS, and last year, while working, he completed his Honours.

The only thing standing in his way now is R25,000.

Until his fees are paid, he can’t access his final results or take the next step toward his Masters.

It’s hard knowing he’s come this far, done everything right… and is being held back by something like this.

If you’re able to donate or even just share his story, it would truly mean so much.

This is Bonelelo, one of our dedicated Education Support workers at Ethembeni. Our children look up to him and he is a young man of integrity, commitment and heart. Life has not been easy for him but despite his challenges, he worked hard at school and went on to study part-time, earning his degree in Psychology. Last year, he took the next step and completed his Honours. Unfortunately he has not been able to raise enough fees to fully pay for his course so can't get his completed results. The next step is his Masters.
Please consider supporting his BaçkaBuddy fundraiser by donating or simply sharing this post. Every contribution, no matter how small will make a meaningful difference.
