~We Pressed Pause~

After a very, very busy cultural season of driving Mishka all over the place to perform, we decided it was time to press pause and recharge our batteries.

We are her greatest supporters and cheerleaders, and I honestly could not be prouder of everything this girl has achieved this year. There is so much more to tell you about that, but for now, I’ll keep that story for another day. ♥️

Instead, we escaped to two of our favourite places, Kalk Bay and Simon’s Town.

We walked the streets, poked around little thrift shops, lost ourselves in bookshops and vinyl shops, found a few treasures and stopped at some very special little restaurants along the way.

One of my favourite things about Mishka is that she shares her mom’s love of thrifting…give us a thrift shop filled with forgotten treasures and we are both completely in our element. And books? Well…there is no hope for either of us.📚

It was exactly the little breather we needed before life gets wonderfully busy again.

Stanford In Bloom is waiting for me in September, while Mishka heads into more Eisteddfods and final rounds. We are excited about everything that lies ahead, but I’m so grateful we took this little weekend to simply wander, breathe and be together.

I think we sometimes forget that inspiration doesn’t always arrive when we sit down and try to create.

Sometimes it finds us in an old bookshop.

In the colour of a faded building.

A beautiful old dress hanging in a thrift shop.

A bowl of flowers on a restaurant table.

The sea.

The people we love.

The little things we stop long enough to notice.

Those are the moments that fill the well again…it sends us home with our souls a little fuller and our creative minds quietly buzzing.

Sometimes you just need to stop and breathe. 🌿

And perhaps buy the old vase too.

~There is something deeply sacred about gathering flowers~

Before a bouquet ever becomes a bouquet, it is simply a collection of moments. A flower with a bent neck that somehow makes the arrangement softer. Wisps of foliage that catch the light just so. Tiny blossoms that would so easily be overlooked, yet somehow hold everything together.

No two bouquets I create are ever the same.

They are not copied or measured. They are not assembled from recipe. They are led by the season, by what is growing, by colour, texture and instinct. My hands simply follow what my heart sees. One stem at a time, I gather them together, loosely tying them with twine and love, allowing each bloom enough space to breathe.

It feels less like arranging flowers and more like painting with petals…or sketching with stems.

Perhaps that is why bouquets always remind me of people.

None of us are meant to look alike.

We all carry different stories, different scars, different strengths. Some of us bloom early, others take a little longer. Some seasons ask us to flower abundantly, while others quietly invite us to grow unseen beneath the soil.

Yet every one of us belongs.

Every curve, every imperfection, every season we have lived through becomes part of the beauty we offer the world.

I often think of Mary Oliver’s beautiful question:

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”

Perhaps one answer is simply this…

To bloom where we are planted.

To bring kindness into heaviness.
Beauty where there is weariness.
Hope where someone has forgotten how to look for it.

Just like a bouquet, none of us needs to become someone else to be beautiful.

We simply need to become ourselves.

And when we do, the world becomes a little more colourful because we were here.

With love,
Fébé

Seasonal bespoke hand-tied bouquets are available to order. Every bouquet is thoughtfully gathered, organically composed and created only once - just like the person receiving it.

~The First Signs are Always the Quietest~

The sun lingers just a little longer each evening, and the mornings arrive a few minutes earlier. It may seem like such a small shift, but it always feels like the first whisper that a new season is on its way. And somehow with it, something begins to change inside me too.

Life has been wonderfully full lately. My days have been spent planning Stanford In Bloom, creating beautiful bouquets, and helping my parents relocate from the Free State to Stanford so they can be closer to us. It has been busy, emotional and incredibly rewarding.

As the seasons slowly turn, I find myself changing too.

I’ve noticed that the things that once unsettled me, no longer hold the same weight they once did. That doesn’t mean that they disappear, but I think I’ve learnt to carry them differently. Perhaps that’s what growth looks like. Quiet, almost unnoticed, until one day you realise you’ve become softer where you were once reactive, calmer where you once felt overwhelmed.

Every day brings its own challenges, but every day also gives us another opportunity to choose self-care, self-growth, and a little more grace - for ourselves and for others.

Maybe that’s the real beauty of changing seasons. They remind is that we, too, are allowed to evolve.

Here’s to longer days, new beginnings, and bloom from the inside out.

Have you noticed a change in yourself this season, or is there something you’re hoping to leave behind as the new season approaches?

~Little Perfumers~

One of the highlights of the Winter holiday was hosting the sweetest Little Perfumers Workshop at Wish Upon a Treat where children stepped into the enchanting world of flowers, fragrance and creativity.

Our morning began with a little mystery. Each child received beautiful numbered Fragrance Detective Cards, each dotted with a different essential oil. They became little scent detectives, smelling each fragrance before writing or drawing what they thought it might be. It was such fun discovering how every scent evoked a different memory or imagination.

We then explored nature’s own perfume by smelling lemons and oranges and gently rubbing sprigs of lavender and rosemary between our fingers, releasing their beautiful aromas.

The highlight of the morning was blending their own botanical perfume using a professional perfume base together with carefully measured ratios of essential oils. Each little perfumer chose between Lavender Dreams or Rose Garden, before decorating their beautiful glass bottle with delicate dried flowers, personalised labels and tags.

Every child went home with their handcrafted perfume, a certificate and I hope a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of botanicals.

I would love to welcome more little perfumers to future workshops, including my next workshop during Stanford In Bloom.

BOOKINGS ARE OPENING NEXT WEEK FOR MY LITTLE PERFUMER WORKSHOPS DURING STANFORD IN BLOOM 12 - 27 SEPTEMBER 2026 Stanford in Bloom

These magical experiences are also available as a unique birthday celebration. If you know a little one who loves flowers, nature and creating beautiful things, I’d love to hear from you. Please DM me for more information.

~Flowers for the Everyday~

Some of my happiest moments have never been the grand occasions.

They’ve been the simple ones…fresh flowers on the kitchen table, candlelight at supper, the first blossoms of the season, a bouquet shared with a friend, or bringing a little beauty into an ordinary day.

I’ve always believed that flowers don’t need a special occasion.

Sometimes they are the occasion.

That quiet belief is at the heart of Fébé’s Floral & Fields, and I’m so happy to share that my bespoke hand-tied bouquets are now available to order.

Each bouquet is thoughtfully designed using the freshest seasonal flowers, carefully sourced and arranged in my signature natural style. No two bouquets are ever quite the same, because every season has its own story to tell.

💐The Posy - R180
A little gesture of kindness, beauty and everyday joy.

💐The Bespoke Bouquet - R250
Thoughtfully designed for life’s meaningful moments.

💐The Signature Bouquet - R350
A luxurious arrangement celebrating the season’s most beautiful blooms.

Bouquet orders close every Wednesday morning at 11h00, allowing me to source the freshest flowers especially for each order.

I’m also available for weddings, celebrations, bespoke floral commissions and botanical workshops, with seasonal workshops coming soon.

I live here in the beautiful village of Stanford, bouquets can be collected from on Fridays, or I’m happy to deliver within Stanford.

If my flowers find their way onto your table, into your home or into the hands of someone you love, I hope they bring with them a little of what I believe we all need more of…

Beauty in the everyday.

With love,

Fébé

~Gathering the Dazzles~

Winter can sometimes feel just a little too long…

It quietly creeps into your soul, leaving a dark little space that longs to be filled with beauty, light and all the lovely things until Spring finally arrives.

For me, changing my hair always adds a little bedazzlement to life. And then, as if right on cue, the very first blossom on the almond tree appear…so delicate, so hopeful, such a beautiful reminder that Spring is on its way…slowly but most certainly.

When Winter gets the better of me, I cling to every little dazzle that lights up my soul…fresh flowers, good coffee, warm bread, birdsong, candlelight, vintage treasures, and those first blossoms that whisper, “Hold on…brighter days are coming.”

As Mary Oliver wrote:

“Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”

What is bringing a little light into your Winter days?

~WINTER DAYS, FULL HEARTS & MEMORIES MADE~

There is something so special about gathering around the people you love.

These Winter holidays have filled our hearts in the very best way. My brother and his children came to spend time with us, and what a precious time it has been. From river boat cruises and fish and chips on the beach to a crayfish braai at one of our favourite spots along the coast…and even the challenge of trying to open a bottle of wine without a corkscrew…which gave us all a good laugh! We filled our days with simple adventures and beautiful memories.

The greatest gift of all was watching the cousins reconnect. They shared endless laughter, stories, late night chats and little moments that no photograph could ever truly capture. My heart was so full seeing them grow closer each passing day.

Family is one of life’s greatest blessings. In a world that moves so quickly, spending unhurried time together feels like one of the greatest gifts we can give each other. These are the moments that become our stories…the memories we carry with us long after the holidays have ended.

Today we said our goodbyes and gently turned our hearts toward the week ahead. School begins on Tuesday and with it comes a wonderfully full third term. Eisteddfods, prize winners concerts, finals, the school concert and of course, Stanford In Bloom are all just around the corner.

There is so much to look forward to, many dreams taking shape, and I have a feeling that this season is going to be a beautiful one.

Here’s to family, grateful hearts, and making time for the people who matter most. Those moments are always the ones we treasure forever.

~Every Installation Begins With a Dream~

Some of my greatest joy is found in the making.

Before a single flower is placed there’s a vision, measurements, hardware to build and countless little details to bring together. I’ve always loved creating the structures for my floral installations myself. There is something incredibly satisfying about watching an idea slowly take shape with my own hands.

This weekend, those hands were busy creating these floral installations for a beautiful new addition to our little village of Stanford.

My heart is so full. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out, and I truly hope they bring beauty, joy and a warm welcome to everyone who walks through the door. May they become part of the happy memories made in this lovely space.

A heartfelt thank you to my wonderful hubby who was by my side helping to install the pieces.

If you’re wandering through Stanford, do pop into
I hope you’ll find something delicious to enjoy…

~Winter Has Settled Gently…~

Cold mornings, rain on the windows, mist hanging over the fields, and that familiar invitation to slow down and embrace the beauty of the season.

I was so excited to receive my very special parcel from this week…my beautiful hand-knitted beanie to match my mittens…

As I carefully unwrapped it, little Roxy was right by my side, completely intrigued by what was inside. She watched every move with such curiosity, sniffing the parcel and inspecting my new beanie as though she knew it was something truly special. It was such a sweet little moment that made me smile.

With Winter well and truly here in the Western Cape, my new beanie and treasured mittens have already become my favourite companions for cold, rainy days.

And while I’ve been embracing this slower season of Wintering, I’ve also been quietly creating something very special behind the scenes…

I can’t wait to share it with you soon.
