Green Mountain Trail A four day slackpacking trail in Elgin. The Green Mountain Trail is a moderate walking trail with distances varying between 11kms and 18kms each day.

The Green Mountain Trail is a four day slackpacking guided hiking trail around the Green Mountain in the Overberg region of the Western Cape. The effort level, as gauged by Slackpacker S.A., is set at 3.5 with 5 being the most difficult.

The Freesia caryophyllacea, the Fragrant Kammetjie, is one of the first Geophytes to flower in these cooler months. The flowers are beautifully scented as the day warms, attracting bees and day moths. Having lost 77% of its habitat to agricultural activities, urban development and invasive plants, the Green Mountain Trail guides celebrate these plants along the trails. The Fragrant Kammetjie is listed as Near Threatened, almost meeting criteria B, Vulnerable.
