You crack an egg, you see a tiny red spot, and straight into the bin it goes. π₯
It happens in less than one in every hundred eggs and it worries almost everyone who sees it. It is simply a small blood vessel that burst while the yolk was forming inside the hen. It is not a chick, it is not a sign the egg is old, and it is not a sign of anything wrong.
Scoop it out with the tip of a spoon if it bothers you, or cook the egg exactly as it is. Both are perfectly safe.
Fresh white cage free eggs from The Egg Nest, quality-checked daily. We are primarily a collection only business. Delivery may be arranged depending on quantity and distance.
