How exciting is this😊
I have exciting news to share, guys. My poem "Not Just Coffee" has been selected to be published in an anthology, `Loudness of Silence: Voices` by Justin Hatchett, author of `The Loud Silence` available on Amazon.
I literally wrote this poem on Friday morning and it was screaming to be submitted. I originally thought I have an arsenal of pieces I could choose from when I first read about the competition, but somehow that was not the plan I was meant to follow and by now I've learned to listen when the words speak.
So, here's my poem, still shiny and new.

𝘉𝘺 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘢 𝘝. 𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘦
I made myself a cup of coffee,
like I always do
first thing in the morning.
Strong,
black,
bitter.
It was just supposed to be
another cup of coffee,
but this time it wasn't.
Instead it reminded me
of a lost friendship,
chosen family
that was no more.
I hadn't done anything wrong,
in fact, I kept showing up
and he kept letting go
until he just stayed gone.
And this random cup I made today
reminded me of him,
the fact that we used to talk for hours
until we didn't,
that he made me laugh
until I cried and then laughed some more.
I miss the ease that was us,
I miss the warmth in his voice
-- how I hate that I do --
and I really hope this loss
won't leave me jaded when it comes to trust.
For now,
I'll savour the warmth from this cup.
The anthology `Loudness of Silence: Voices` will be out soon - I will share the link as soon as it drops. In the meantime, you can find Justin's book `The Loud Silence` on Amazon - link in comments, and you can read more of my mullings right here. ☺️
Thank you for being here for the shiny, new ones too.
