12 cupcakes
Ingredients
Vanilla Batter
150g unsalted butter, softened
180g sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
220g all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
120ml milk
Chocolate Batter
Half of the vanilla batter
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp milk
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Line a 12-cup muffin tray with cupcake liners.
3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
5. Sift together flour and baking powder.
6. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk and mix until smooth.
Create the Marble Effect
1. Divide the batter equally into two bowls.
2. Leave one bowl plain (vanilla).
3. Mix cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon milk into the second bowl.
4. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into each cupcake liner.
5. Use a skewer or toothpick to gently swirl the batters together.
Bake
Fill liners about ¾ full.
Bake for 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cool completely before serving.
Bakery-Style Tip
For the bold zebra pattern seen in the photo:
Pipe vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the center of each cupcake liner.
Do not over-swirl. A few gentle strokes create the distinct marble pattern.
These cupcakes are soft, moist, and perfect for birthdays, snack boxes, and dessert sales. 🧁🍫🍦
