I like baking bread. The folding of the dough, the waiting of the flour,yeast, sugar, salt and lukewarm water to somehow merge into something magical is magical.

Swiss roll done as requested:

Filled with drunken bananas and cream. Decorated with berries and choux buns that is topped with melted chocolate and filled with cream and drunken bananas.

6yrs ago I was taking cake decorating classes in The Netherlands where I lived at the time. I met wonderful people like Jolanda Tielemans, who was so welcoming and kind. Although dutch sounds very similar to afrikaans, its not easy when you're in your 40 but they were always so accommodating. I never thought that something like cake would bring me in contact with such wonderful people and I miss it dearly at times.

Its been a while but when my neighbour asked me to make some cupcakes for her granddaughter who turned 13, I couldnt resist.
Lockdown can't be easy for our kids and yet, most of them are such trooers! Keira is also such a lovely child, always smiling.
