Traditionally, this cake is baked in a special cake tin on coal fire and the lid is topped with burning coconut husk - traditional oven, which gives a distinctive smoky flavour.

The texture is chewy, with the aroma of coconut milk. Often served during tea time.

Made with glutinous rice flour, to be eaten with sweetened coconut milk broth with pandan aroma.

Similar to and , the balls are plain, and eaten with sweet broth or syrup. Except that tangyuan has filling and wadai kipeng has shredded coconut included.
