Not only does Great Bakes know good food, but we also know that food can be nostalgic. It can bring back fond memories of the muffins your Grandma used to make for breakfast or your Mom’s cookies waiting in the oven when you got home from school. We love those memories too, so we used them as our inspiration for our collection of delicious vegan goodies. Great Bakes is not just for vegans, though.
It’s for people who enjoy tasty, locally-sourced treats - that just so happen to be egg-free, dairy-free, honey-free, and, simply, cruelty-free! Living and growing up in Michigan means many things: driving Up North to see the “colors”, taking the ferry to Mackinac Island, never worrying about sharks at the beach, climbing the stairs at Iargo Springs, riding dune buggies at Silver Lake, tubing down the Rifle. The Mitten offers us some beautiful memories, so we want to keep those memories alive! Therefore, Great Bakes aims to support local, Michigan-based businesses whenever possible. Throughout the year, you will also notice a variety of seasonal treats with fruits and veggies that our beautiful state provides for us - strawberry muffins in June, peach handpies in August, or German apple cakes in October. Many of these seasonal ingredients are purchased from local farmers that you can meet at the Farmer’s Market! Although, being vegan and local means we already “tread lightly”, we go a step further - all packaging is compostable and/or recyclable! All items are baked with love in my home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Great Bakes Baking Company is an LLC that operates under the Cottage Food Law of Michigan.
