From Texas to Africa and back again

Hi! Welcome to my page! My name is Lindy. I was born and raised in Texas and have been a FOODIE all of my life! I can remember baking with my Grandma when I was about four years old, with us “reading” the little cookbook she gave me from Imperial Sugar! Some really good recipes in that book that I still use! Even though I enjoyed cooking and all aspects of baking, it was a just a hobby until we moved to Africa in 2005. My husband and I were volunteers in Mozambique and worked mostly with disadvantaged youth and orphans. We took six teenage boys into our home in 2009, and they became our sons! Finding ingredients was often a challenge in Mozambique, but I really learned to bake from scratch, making a lot of recipes that I had never made before like pie crusts (who makes pie crusts from scratch when it’s so easy to buy frozen crusts??Well now, I will never buy a frozen crust again!) Cooking and especially baking became a passion as I taught many Mozambican youth to bake and cook food so that they were able to make money to provide for themselves and their families. Some of our former students are now professional chefs in South Africa and Finland!

Circumstances caused us to return to Texas in 2017 and in August, I started a home-based bakery, and have my State of Texas ANSI Food Handler Certification. I am doing what I love and loving what I do! I love baking pastries, cakes, breads, and desserts that are both scrumptiously delicious and beautiful to look at! Please contact me and I’ll be happy to make your favorite for you!

Bon appétit!
