The Artisan Baker

The Artisan Baker I'm Lane and I want to make my corner of the world a better place. My husband and I make homemade granola from our home in Yazoo City, Mississippi.

I never expected to run a business with my husband during our retirement years, but that goes right along with the events of much of my life. Life is full of unexpected-ness. But one thing in my life that has been consistent is my passion to run a business that enriches the lives of those around me and allows me to be creative. In my own way, I want to make my corner of the world a better place. I

love to help people, and grow and cook with herbs. My career choices over the years reflect this. My current adventure is supplying quality granola from the heart of the South with flavors as varied as life itself. We’ve sold our granola locally for a year, and we are excited to make it available now online through our Etsy shop. We have several different flavors – each with its own unique story. Enjoy some of our Southern Goodness in a bag!

“I saw her at the Piggly Wiggly yesterday.” One eyebrow is raised for effect. “Oh my. She was wearing THAT outfit wasn’t she?” “Yep.” (The tone in which you say “Yep” and breathe out implies the exact nature of said outfit.)

Conversations with Southerners take up time, because we have a formula of sorts that most of us use. And that formula begins with small talk. Now, I know some people despise small talk and see it as a waste of time. But it plays a very important role. Small talk is approaching a conversation like yo…

In the South, we have been known to wear pearls with everything – from our church dresses to our jeans. Pearls are a “must have” for our jewelry boxes here, but there’s another kind of pearl that everyone needs. Pearls of wisdom. So, every now and then, I’ll try to give you a pearl of wisdom right h…

Stories play an important role in life here in the South, so it is fitting that each one of our granola flavors comes with its own story. Today I want to tell you the story behind our Plain Jane Granola.

Here it is the end of February! Are we ready for spring?!!!

I hope you are enjoying the granola with your Greek yogurt. It makes for a delicious breakfast on the run and with the weather changing - we will be running!

Our granola makes for a quick and filling snack, so help yourself to all the varieties.

St. Andrews Episcopal school in Ridgeland had their Farm-To-Table event last week and it was a great time for all attendees. We we excited that they wanted to give out Artisan Baker Granola as a "happy". Thank you for your support!
