Vinewood Mexican Bakery in Metro Detroit is known for its cherished comfort food like tamales and empanadas. However, it's been years since they've gotten to share their treats with the community.

Dear friends, family, and our amazing community 💛

As we continue taking steps toward rebuilding Vinewood Mexican Bakery, we’ve hit another important need. We’re currently looking for a local window company that can help replace the windows in our bakery.

This is a big part of making the space safe, secure, and ready to welcome everyone back. If you or someone you know owns a window company, works with one, or can recommend a trusted local business, we would truly appreciate the connection.

We’re so grateful for all the support, kind messages, and encouragement we’ve received. It means everything to us and keeps us going during this tough time.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and helping us move one step closer to reopening.
Please comment below or message us if you have any leads. 🤍

To our Vinewood family & beautiful Wyandotte community & Downriver community 🤍

This is one of the hardest posts we’ve ever had to write.

For a long time, we stayed quiet and tried to carry everything on our own. We believed that with faith and hard work, we could fix everything ourselves. We never wanted to burden anyone or ask for help. This truly is our last resort, and it comes from a place of humility and hope. While God has carried us through every storm, this season has shown us that sometimes His help comes through people, through community, love, and prayer.

So many of you have reached out asking how you can help, how you can support us, and how you can be part of Vinewood’s comeback. With humbled hearts, we’ve created a GoFundMe for anyone who feels led to help us rebuild.

Every single dollar will go directly toward bringing our bakery back to life toward repairs, equipment, and getting our doors open again so we can serve this community we love so deeply.

If you are able to donate, we are beyond grateful.
If you can’t donate, your prayers mean just as much.
If all you can do is share this post, that alone helps us more than you know.

We believe God is bigger than every setback we’ve faced.
We believe He restores what was broken.
We believe that with faith, family, and community, Vinewood will rise again.

Thank you for every prayer.
Thank you for every message.
Thank you for every ounce of love you’ve shown our family.

God over all. Always. 🙏🤍

To our beloved community, friends, and customers of Vinewood Mexican Bakery,

We have received countless messages over the years asking what happened to our bakery and why we suddenly disappeared. We stayed silent for a long time because we are a private family. We believe in faith, in patience, and in trusting that God carries us through our hardest seasons. But today, we feel it’s time to share our story with you, the people who have supported us from the very beginning.

On December 3rd, 2023, at approximately 5:26 PM, our lives changed in a single moment. A vehicle crashed into the side of our bakery. The impact hit a structural beam, and because our building is very old, the damage was devastating. The city building engineer determined that the structure was unsafe to occupy. We were forced to close our doors and leave the building immediately.

What many people don’t see is what happens after the headlines fade.

Our insurance helped cover part of the damages, and for that we are grateful. But the person responsible for the accident faced no real consequences. Their insurance never paid for the damage, never helped with housing, and never took responsibility. We trusted the legal process and hired an attorney, believing we would receive justice. Unfortunately, time passed, and we were later told that nothing could be done, that the case had “expired.” It’s hard to describe the heartbreak of being told time ran out, when we were still living the consequences every single day.

Just when we thought we were finally catching our breath, we faced another setback. In February of 2025, we trusted someone who offered to help rebuild our bakery quickly. We believed in good faith, and instead, we were taken advantage of. The work was left unfinished, done poorly, and our savings were gone. It felt like starting from zero, again.

This journey has been heavy. It has tested our faith, our strength, and our hope more than words can express. We have had moments where it felt easier to give up than to keep going. But this bakery is more than a business to us. It represents our parents’ sacrifices, our family’s hard work, our culture, and the love we have poured into this community for years.

Today, we are slowly rebuilding piece by piece, step by step, with new contractors and renewed determination. It is not easy. We are starting over from the ground up. But we are still here. And we are not giving up.

Thank you to everyone who has checked on us, remembered us, prayed for us, and waited for us. Your messages, your support, and your kindness have meant more than you will ever know. We carry your love with us as we continue this long road back.

We promise, Vinewood Mexican Bakery will rise again.
Not just rebuilt, but stronger than before. 🤍

With gratitude and love,
The Vinewood Mexican Bakery Family
