It’s that time of year again... when thoughts turn to New Year’s resolutions. You might be excited about what the new year holds, resolved not to make any resolutions this year, or somewhere in between.
How about setting a concrete goal for June and easing into it over the coming seven months? By June 6, 2026 I guarantee you can be ready in body and mind to bike 30 miles (or 62.5 or even 100, if you choose the metric or imperial century).
June 6, 2026, is the date of the annual fundraising event: the Ride to End Alzheimer’s. This is your chance to ride in support of finding a cure for Alzheimer's and to honor the millions of people who have been diagnosed with the disease and their dedicated caregivers.
My late husband, Eric Blomberg, was a brilliant engineer and scientist, a wonderful husband and partner, a loving father and stepfather, and an enjoyable friend to many, and an avid cyclist. He died on October 13, 2013, just one week before his 65th birthday.
This ride is deeply personal to me, and I invite you to join this important cause.
Here’s the deal: Sign up for the Ride to End Alzheimer’s. The registration fee is $30 until December 30 (it increases to $50 after that date), and participants commit to raising $500 to donate to Alzheimer’s research and support.
You can go directly to the official event website https://act.alz.org/goto/kbellicchi to sign up and get more information. There is a calendar for bike rides on the app for rides around New England. Or, I’d be happy to meet you in person or set up a Zoom or phone call to answer any and all questions.
In March, I begin biking outdoors on local bike paths and less traveled back roads from my house here in Wrentham. I also ride regularly in and around Mystic CT/Westerly RI. I add miles each week, beginning with 10 and building up from there. Others often join me for rides. If they originate at my house in Wrentham I offer breakfast, brunch, or lunch at my house afterward.
Let’s get in shape together for a cause that matters. I look forward to riding with you.
I am inspired by science and driven by determination to end Alzheimer's. Donate today and help advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer's.
