Gettysburg Homestead I'm an over the hill, introverted, anxiety ridden, keeping it real kind of person. I have everyday struggles and won't pretend I don't. I'm Mary, the driver.

So buckle up and welcome to the struggle bus. I'm closing in on a half a century years old mama to 2 adult children. One who is on the autism spectrum and still lives with me. We live very close to largest Amish community in Ohio and love the peace and quiet. I love creating with fabric, wool, paper mache, and whatever else I have hidden around my home. I'm not a great cook or baker BUT I do love trying new recipes even though my daughter has quite a few food aversions. She is also trying new recipes to make on her own as well. Please join me as I navigate life trying to take care of my aging parents, work, helping my daughter, and enjoy the things that keep me sane in life.

Who thought buying this orange glitter nail polish was a good idea? It totally looks like I never take my nail polish off and my nails are stained yellow. This is the most horrible color. I even asked a 10 year old girl and her Mom, in the aisle looking at fake nails and polish, if it was cute for fall. That 10 year old lied! 😂😂😂

My honey loves me. 😊 He took his Mom for bloodwork this morning in a city that happens to have one of my favorite cookies. Kolachky cookies from Leach's in Barberton Ohio are light, fluffy, and delicious. I don't get there often, but when I do I always leave with them. He surprised me with them today. He met me in the parking lot of the hair salon to give them to me as I was leaving. Of course I dug in as he was talking to me. I think I remember the conversation, but I had a sweet treat explosion going on in my mouth. 😂

I have been collaborating with a guy at work on a big project. We met up in the lunch room to warm our lunches up. He walks in with a normal soup bowl with a handle and a splatter proof lid on it. We were talking about our project and he reached in the refrigerator and grabbed this exact container. In my brain I'm wondering what the heck he has in his bowl that he's going to warm up and put vanilla yogurt on or in. We continue to talk while I warm up my lunch. The timer goes off, I take my lunch out of the microwave and I slowly stir my meal while talking to see what the heck he has. I'm invested at this point. I NEED to know so I can see how gross this could get and tell my office mate what I saw. He pulls off the lid of the yogurt container and I see his soup. I start laughing and tell him I've been secretly watching him to see what his lunch was. He said it was the closest container he had to put it in last night. I honestly thought his bowl already had something in it. The lid was on ready to go and all he needed to do was add yogurt. 😂

Alright everyone let's use our imaginations... I wanted some vintage looking Halloween ornaments. So what I'm thinking is to make ruffles from the streamer paper. The bigger orange and the smaller black. Then put my decopage printable in the center with either silver or something around the outside of the picture. It won't be this big. When I brainstorm this is what happens.

I also have some of these tins in my stash that I bought years ago that I could faux rust and vintage it up with bits and bobbles.

I am really tired this evening as I got called into work at 1:15am to fix a problem. So when I'm like this I definitely don't sew. I work on easier items. In fact, I hand sanded most of Santa's I molded this evening. Next step is fixing flaws and painting. My favorite part ❤️.

No time to sew this evening since I had to mow before it rains tomorrow. So, I'll show you the current state of other projects. My first wave of Santa's are drying. If I do a few every time I'm off work I should have an army for Christmas 😂. We won't discuss how I got my printables printed, but you can tell a huge difference from my printer to a better one. Picture 2 the ones I printed are at the top. They are muddy and look bad. The set below are with a much better printer. In the 3rd picture you can see the color difference. I can now have some Halloween ornaments for my tree. Right now I have nothing, not even lights on it. 🙄 Not the tree in the background of the 1st picture. That's my craft room tree. Totally different. 😂

Here's what I'm thinking for my coworkers shirt. I'm going to cover the yoke on the shoulders and upper back with this pink fabric. The sleeves are more blousy and gathered at the wrist so I want to cut, yes, cut the linen and use the flower pattern on the forearm on both sides. She thought that my shirt I made for me needed a heart on it. So, I think I want to incorporate one on hers on the front somehow. I'd love to use the old quilt piece BUT first wash and it would be frayed to pieces. Maybe I can find a piece of the same quilt that isn't and make a scrappy heart. I could use the leftover linen border and sew it around the heart to finish the edge. 🤔 She is very much a girly girl and the sweetest person ever. Just a couple years older than me but acts much older 😂 I mean she did marry a man that's over 20 years older than she is. I'm 51 so you do the math. 😁

My printer stinks. I tried to print some free printables for decopaging and it looks horrible. I went down a rabbit hole and had an idea, but can't follow through. Nothing worse for me. I'm definitely not buying a new printer and I don't want to go to Staples.
