🍋 A Slice of Love for Jen & Little Donald 🍋
August 10 - September 10 Fundraiser for the family

Neighbors helping Neighbors - Communities reaching out.

For years, the Pahl and Weston families have been part of our local community—and part of Home Baked Goods by Diana. From Pahl's Hogs and Goats bacon in our quiche to Pahl's Farm zucchini, pumpkins and eggs in some of your favorite seasonal baked goods, their farm has been part of our family, our kitchen and our story.

On July 31, after a courageous battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer, Donald Weston passed away with his beloved wife Jen by his side. He will be remembered for his strength, humor, loyalty and incredible love for his family.

Our commitment to supporting the family he loved continues.

💛 EVERY SLICE GIVES BACK 💛
$1 from every slice of Iced Lemon Pound Cake sold at What A Day Cafe will be donated to the family.
Home Baked Goods by Diana will match every dollar.
🍋 THAT'S $2 FROM EVERY SLICE! 🍋

Funds will help Jen, Little Donald, and the Pahl and Weston families with funeral expenses and the financial burdens that follow such an unimaginable loss.

Why lemon pound cake? It’s Jen's favorite—and Donald never turned down a slice. Something that brought them a little joy can now help our community wrap its arms around the family Donald loved so deeply.

Stop by Whataday CAFE. Have a slice. Help a local farming family.
Every slice truly makes a difference. 💛. Thank you.

💛🍋 **A Slice of Love for Jen & Little Donald** 🍋💛

It is with profound sadness that we share that Donald passed away after his courageous battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer.

Our hearts are broken for Jen, Little Donald, their families, and everyone who knew and loved him. Donald fought with incredible strength, grace, and determination until the very end.

We recently announced a partnership between Whataday CAFE to help support Donald and his family during his cancer journey. While our hearts hoped for a different outcome, our commitment to this family has not changed.

Beginning August 10th every slice of Iced Lemon Pound Cake sold at What A Day Cafe will continue to generate a $1 donation, and Home Baked Goods by Diana will continue to match every dollar.

🍋 **Every slice sold will provide $2 to help Jen and her family with funeral expenses and the many financial burdens that come with such an unimaginable loss.**

We chose Iced Lemon Pound Cake because it was Jen's favorite, and Donald never turned down a slice. It feels only fitting that something that brought them joy can now become a way for our community to wrap its arms around the family he loved so deeply.

If you are able, please stop by What A Day Cafe for a slice, share this post, and keep Jen, Little Donald, and their entire family in your prayers in the difficult days ahead.

Thank you for showing this family what a caring community looks like. Every act of kindness, every prayer, every share, and every slice truly makes a difference.

Rest in peace, Donald. Your strength, your smile, and your love for your family will never be forgotten. 💛

💛🍋 A Slice of Something Sweet for Jen & Donald 🍋💛

Many of you have been following Jen and Donald’s journey as Donald continues his fight against anaplastic thyroid cancer. The love and support surrounding this young family has been incredible, and we wanted to find one more way to help.

Starting August 10th, Whataday CAFE and Home Baked Goods by Diana are teaming up for a special fundraising effort for Jen, Donald and their family.
And, of course, it involves cake. 🍰

We chose Iced Lemon Pound Cake for a very special reason — it’s Jen’s favorite, and Donald has never been known to turn down a slice either! 💛

For every slice of Iced Lemon Pound Cake sold at What A Day Cafe, $1 will be donated to Jen and Donald’s fund — and Home Baked Goods by Diana will MATCH that donation.

🍋 That means every slice sold = $2 for Jen & Donald. 🍋

It may be just a slice of cake, but enough slices can add up to something meaningful — helping give Jen and Donald a little more breathing room so they can concentrate on what matters most: Donald’s treatment, their family, and the fight ahead.

So stop by What A Day Cafe, grab a cup of coffee and a slice of Iced Lemon Pound Cake, and help us turn something sweet into something even sweeter.

Eat cake. Support a local farming family. Help us make every slice count. 💛

And Donald — keep fighting. There will always be another slice waiting for you. 🍋💛

Please continue to keep Jen, Donald, Little Donald and their entire family and their family farms and businesses Pahl's Hogs and Goats, Pahl's Farm, and Weston Pest Service in your thoughts and prayers, and send them all the strength, healing and love you can.

For those who know me personally, you know that community and family mean everything to me — and family isn’t always defined by blood. Sometimes it’s the people who show up, work hard, give generously, and become part of your life in every way that matters.

Today, I’m asking for support for one of those families.

Jen and her husband, Donald, are facing an unimaginable battle after Donald was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer. The medical expenses, travel for treatment, lost time from work, and everyday burdens are adding up quickly.

If you’ve ever purchased from Pahl's Hogs and Goats, Pahl's Farm at the Baltimore farmers markets or through Market Wagon Greater Baltimore / DC Area, visited Farm Chicks Corner Market years ago, or had Weston Pest Service help with bees or pests, then you already know this vibrant, hardworking, generous, and loving family.

And for those who support my business — chances are, you’ve already supported theirs too. That bacon in the quiche you purchased from us? Yep — Pahls Hogs and Goats. The zucchini bread you swoon over every summer? Or the Not Your Granny’s Pumpkin Pie that graced your Thanksgiving table? That’s Pahls Farm produce. Specialty Italian natural colored egg Easter bread? Yep, them too. Their farm and products have been part of my kitchen and my business for years.

Please consider donating to their GoFundMe, (in the first comment) sharing this post, or simply keeping them in your thoughts and prayers. Every bit of support truly matters right now.

Thank you for helping a family that has always been there for others. ❤️

Yes we do take last minute requests for new clients surprising a loved one… and it’s so sweet when they comment: “OMG! He (husband) absolutely loved it and it was enjoyed by all 4 nephews and my boys. Thank you, thank you again for taking my last minute order on your day off and for truly making a delicious key lime pie. It was perfection! 😍”

This is why I love to bake for YOU! Thank you for your business and trusting me to make a special day sweeter.
