THE UNLIKELY JOURNEY TO GREATNESS
“He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant” Psalm 105:17
Psalm 105:17 says, “He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant” In Genesis 37, we read about Joseph and his family and saw how Joseph incurred hatred from his own brothers because he was loved and favored by their father, Jacob. We read how when he told them his dream, they hated him the more and we saw how they wanted to kill him when he was sent by his father to check on them as they grazed the flocks near Shechem but eventually ended up selling him to the Ishmaelites who sold him to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of his guard.
If you were Joseph and the Lord told you that you will become a great star, whose family will bow before him, you will never think that that greatness will start from you being hated, spite, hostility, death-threats, and being sold to some strangers. What anyone will think and say is that the devil wants to stop us from being great. Fortunately, such is the way that the Lord chooses to send His beloved and chosen ones on the journey to greatness. We know that for Joseph, this did not end the journey.
Fortunately, and from what seem like a most unfortunate situation, Joseph was falsely accused of r**e by Potiphar’s wife because he did not agree to yield to that temptation, and he ended up in jail from a place that he was favored and by a man who recognized that his household was favored because of Joseph’s presence and had made him in charge of everything in his house. He ended up in a prison where the kings put their prisoners and there, he spent about 13 years of his life. Are you in a similar situation and a journey that is characterized by one problem after another and a never-ending low-level situation? Does your story look like that in Amos 5:19 where a man runs from a lion, only to meet a bear, escapes to his house, rests his hand on the wall, and is bitten by a snake. Note that the vision is for an appointed time and even though it tarries, wait for it, it will surely happen. The Lord is in absolute control!
Like Joseph who ended up becoming a Prime Minister from prison, in your own long-winding journey, the Lord is building capacity, character, skills, wisdom through the prolonged journey, Note that as Joseph was made the master of Pharaoh’s household, ruler over all that the king possessed, and moreover to instruct the princes and senators as he pleased, so shall all matters of great importance be committed into your hands at end of the day. Like Joseph, you shall have gains rather than losses at the end of all that you went through, you shall rule during your enemies, occupy the throne of glory and be celebrated! Do have a very prolific week!

Prayer Point: Father, thank you for a new day! Lord by your mercy, let this long-winding painful story end now and in glory like never imagined, in Jesus’ Name!
