On Sunday, I went for a little run with my sister and became a marathoner!

Now that training is done, and the race is done, and I’m calling this my season ending, maybe I’ll do a little more baking. I hear my ingredients calling!

There’s not a lot of baking going on this weekend since my sister is in town to run a marathon with me. So instead enjoy these beautiful biscotti I made last weekend using a recipe from my newest cookbook! They are Double Chocolate Pecan Biscotti. And they are amazing! I’ve been enjoying them with a cup of coffee every morning this week.

I don’t think we’d survive if there weren’t chocolate chip cookies in our house! They are a snacking staple in this household!

Today felt like a good day to bake bread, so I did. Despite the house being cooler than normal, the raising times were about the same. One loaf is now sliced and ready to eat. I can’t wait to have a slice for lunch tomorrow!

I’ve been craving biscuits and gravy. This morning I whipped up a pile of buttermilk biscuits. The trick to amazing biscuits is White Lily flour!

Red velvet Bundt cake is always a winner especially if you take a hint from Better Than Bundt and add chocolate chips to the batter. Of course, you can’t forget the cream cheese icing.

I’m finding I really enjoy making these cookie cakes! The picture is made with buttercream frosting. I pipe onto wax paper over an outline (often a coloring sheet) and then transfer it to the cake.

I had fun with baking for the wedding shower! In addition to the cupcakes, I also decorated cookies! I kept it simple with hearts and circles. I finally got the multiple lines around the outside right!

I helped host a wedding shower this week. I was delighted to bake a pile of treats for the event. First up were cupcakes. The flavors were chocolate and winter citrus (vanilla with a hint of orange). I kept the icing simple with white and a few accent rosettes.

I had a mostly successful week of following my cookie decorating schedule! I’m excited it worked. On to week 2! This week I’m focusing on remembering to post pictures! Also, finding better meringue powder for the icing. This one isn’t cutting it for me.

Getting back to decorating cookies. I’m focusing on building a weekly schedule that flows with my daytime work schedule and family. I’m starting small this month with practice cookies to build this habit.
