Hi, Friends! After many months of running Terry and Melody's Daylight Donuts, I have had to make the decision to close our doors permanently, and will be putting up the building and business for sale.
After Terry went into dialysis from Kidney failure, I have tried to keep the shop running. Each month since October the business has slowed down. By the middle of December, I had to realistically make the decision that I could no longer make enough to not only pay current bills, but I had not had enough money left to even pay me.
There are many reasons for this, such as the economy, paying someone extra to do Terry's job that I physically can not do. A certain account went unpaid for 2 1/2 months that was not the local business's fault and was just short of $1000. I started hurting my arms, wrists, and rotator cuff.
My kids began to worry that I would end up like Terry; completely worn out from working 14 or more hours per day (workday started at 1:00am), 6 days a week for almost 48 years.
We have Loved every minute we have had for each of you and with you. We have watched many young kids grow up and then go on to have their own Kids, Grandkids, etc. We truly love Winfield. For now, Terry will be at Winfield Senior Living. He is stable and happy. Making new friends and getting to see old friends as well. He has earned the full sleep and rest he needs.
We apologize for any sadness or disappointment you may have. Our motto has always been "Where Quality Is Delicious!" I wish we could continue forever.
I have taken a part time job for now, and will see where the road leads me. I will remain active in Winfield Community Theatre. Hope to see you all around, and check in on Terry at WSL, especially if you love anything trains.
Many thanks to all of you, we love you Winfield. Melody and Terry Krueger
