Derek's Custom Cakes Derek's Custom Cakes is a home-based business that makes cakes for a variety of special occasions. I am currently baking out of my home in Cherry Fork, Ohio.

Derek's Custom Cakes is a one man operation, run by myself, Derek Beam. I make cakes as a side business. My full-time job is teaching. During the school year, I am a teacher by day, cake maker by night (sometimes well into the night). I started making cakes back in 2004 when my oldest son had his first birthday. With more birthdays, the cakes got bigger, more involved, and more detailed. After man

y compliments about the cakes I made, I decided to start making them for other people as well. I have taken a few classes on cake decorating, but much of what I have learned has been from experimenting with cakes I have made. I enjoy making cakes because I enjoy seeing the reaction on people's faces the first time they see their cake. There is nothing that says "you're special" like a specially made, custom cake!
