I recently found out that I’m lucky enough to share my birthday with one of Wilson’s absolute treasures… Nancy Sallenger! And I can’t think of a better birthday twin to have.
Nancy has become like a grandma to me (and I know like a grandson to her), and if you’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing her, you know there truly isn’t a sweeter lady. And 80?! 80 has nothing on her!
And in true Nancy fashion, her birthday wish wasn’t even for herself.
As Executive Director of the Wilson Crisis Center, she asked our community to help “Fill the Bucket” by donating new cleaning supplies for their Buddy Bucket program, which provides those everyday essentials to people in our community who desperately need them.
So of course Treat Yo’ Self Bakery was happy to load her up with cleaning supplies, but there was absolutely no way I was showing up to our shared birthday celebration without something sweet!
And Greg Mason outdid himself! He turned Nancy into a cookie cake, fabulous jacket, brooch and all!
Happy 80th Birthday to my birthday twin, honorary grandma, and one of the kindest people I know. All of us at Treat Yo’ Self Bakery love you, Nancy!
