Paul does it all!

He’s a full-time member of our team here at Sunhouse. You can find him in the woodshop, shipping, and now learning to weave baskets!

Thanks to the white oak basketry apprenticeship led by .creek.farm and supported by and , Paul and others are carrying this traditional craft forward.

P.S. don’t let his focused face fool you, he’s the silliest guy around!

Shaped by early American utility and the rhythms of daily life, this peg rail is part of our collection.

Made from solid hardwood and finished by hand, it's perfect for hanging your things in the entryway or mudroom. Over time, the wood will wear naturally, taking on character through use and becoming a familiar part of the home.

Thanks again for the lovely pictures.

A walk though

How do we tell the stories of history? How do we carry on crafting traditions that tell a bigger story? These questions walked with us through Colonial Williamsburg.

We saw living craft still practiced by hand but also what’s missing. White oak baskets in use, but no longer being made. Familiar forms, like our peg rail, no longer in production. The more we dug into these missing pieces, the more we decided to find out by doing.

This collaboration with is our way of carrying those traditions forward.
