Happy Fall! 🍁🍂
(please read the whole post, if you can)
Today would usually be the day I’d unveil my Fall seasonal special, but instead I have a different announcement: the permanent closure of Dogwood Bakeshop.
I first want to say thank you to all of you—friends, family, and complete strangers—who supported my small business over the past year and a half. I wouldn’t have had the success I did if it weren’t for each of you, whether you were a regular costumer or even just liked and shared my promotional posts. I appreciate it all!
I started Dogwood Bakeshop after years of encouragement to stop just teasing you with photos of my baked goodies and actually offer them for sale. I resisted for so long because I was worried that making my favorite hobby into a business would cause me to lose my love for baking, and in some ways it eventually did.
I don’t regret any of the time or energy I put into the business, however. This was never intended to be a “forever” thing. I told myself all along that I would only continue for as long as I was enjoying it, and then I would walk away, and the time has come that Dogwood Bakeshop is no longer my top priority.
I want you all to know that this is a happy decision for me! I’ve learned so much during my time as a small business owner, I’ve made new connections in my community, and I’ve loved hearing that you’ve enjoyed my treats along the way. I want to close this chapter of my life on a positive note, and this feels like the perfect time.
I’m not sure if I’ll keep my Dogwood Bakeshop social pages up (maybe at least for a little bit, while the news gets out). But if you follow my personal pages, you may ironically start seeing *more* baking content from me, as I fall back in love with it… as a hobby 👩🏻🍳
Thank you again, and I’m sorry to anyone who may be disappointed!
