The sweetest little smash cake! 🍰

When my daughter was first diagnosed with her egg and peanut allergy, I was too afraid to order a cake from a bakery for her first birthday.

As a result, we missed out on her cake smash photo shoot.

I’m excited to be able to make these now for other families dealing with egg and peanut allergies.

Custom mermaid cake for my daughter’s second birthday!

She’s the reason I started baking egg-free. 1.5 years ago, we discovered she was allergic to peanuts and eggs. After trying to do some easy swaps with boxed mixes, I decided a from scratch recipe tasted the best and had the best texture.

Throughout the past 1.5 years, I’ve also been sourcing ingredients that are safe for her allergies, but still delicious and fun. If you can’t tell, I love color!

I used for the hand-painted white chocolate tail. They are now completely egg free!

I used a variety of colors from .mill for the scales and chocolate.

Welcome to Peace of Cake Indy!

I’d like to introduce myself and share our story about why I’ve created this home-based bakery.

While this picture is a bit outdated, it occurred shortly after we found out about our youngest daughter’s food allergy diagnosis.

At 5.5 months she had an allergic reaction to peanut butter. The allergist mentioned people with peanut allergies oftentimes also have egg allergies. We were instructed not to try eggs.

About 70%+ of patients with egg allergies can tolerate baked egg, such as egg baked in cake. After 2 food challenges, we discovered we aren’t in the 70%.

I started learning how to bake egg free right before her first birthday and absolutely love it. Over the past couple years, I’ve been sourcing ingredients that are peanut, egg, and tree nut free.

As a food allergy parent, I know how scary it can be to order from a traditional bakery.

I’d love to be able to create smash cakes and other celebration cakes for little ones who can’t consume eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts.
