And now, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for…(or maybe not. But either way, here they are. 😉)

One of my favorite sayings is that one about life giving you lemons and making lemonade—partly because that’s how I try to live, by making the best of whatever life hands me. But also, because I really, really like lemons and lemonade! So I decided to make a cookie collection to showcase some lemon love.

And right now, I’m feeling some overwhelming regret that I did not make them lemon flavored. 🍋

What wine goes with cookies? All of them!

I was looking for some inspiration to come out of my long cookie sabbatical, and there it was, right under my nose. (Literally, it happened during a recent wine tasting.)

These are the gluten free sugar cookies I was testing. Because I know they’re GF, I can’t really be subjective about their taste or texture, but my early tester gave them two thumbs up.

I felt a little rusty with the icing bag at first, but it all came back quickly. Now that they’re done, it’s time to relax with a glass of...well, you know.

In the past 30 days I have made over 700 cupcakes. The intervention will be held tomorrow.

(I’m pretty sure cupcakes will be served.)

These are a few of the ones I made this week. A very special lady turned 80 yesterday, and she is having two parties! So she is going to have two cupcake towers with two mini cakes. I didn’t get them done til very late, so I was kinda rushing to get them packed and delivered. I was only able to get a few quick photos before getting them out the door.

As I have often mentioned, when I’m asked to do a set of cookies, I always research the subject before designing them, even when it’s something I’m familiar with. I sometimes discover little known facts that I can use to make the cookies extra special.

I think that pretty much everyone knows what unicorns are, but when my friend and birthday sister Yvonne requested unicorn cookies, I felt the need to learn a little more about them. Siri helped me find this:

“Unicorns are generally considered mythical animals and are typically represented as a white horse with a single straight and often spiraled horn projecting from its forehead. Legend has it that the creature is tireless when pursued, yet falls meekly to the ground when approached by someone with a pure heart. It is reputed to live for a thousand years and to be the noblest of animals.”

It explains without a doubt why I dropped two cookies. They fell meekly to the ground! 🤣

This cookies will not live 1000 years. Possibly not 1000 minutes!

I was recently asked to make cookies UK Basketball cookies. Now, I know almost nothing about the University of Kentucky, and even less about basketball, but I do know a little something about wildcats, as I have two of them. (One of them is currently batting at the words on the screen as I type this.)

With that life experience and a tiny bit of research, I came up with these cookies.

Geno did his best fierce cat profile for me and Sid modeled his paws. I think they're a slam dunk. (Is that the right term? Again, I'm basketball deficient. But that wildcat is badass.)

When I was asked to do cookies for a math teacher, I experienced the same feelings I always got before math class—intense anxiety, sweaty palms, and that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

As you may have guessed, math was not my favorite subject. Math is hard. Math wasn't fun. I failed math.

But these cookies weren't like math at all. I enjoyed making them. And I didn't fail! I think Sister Ethel Reda would be proud.

Let them eat cake.

Specifically chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream. I know it sounds kinda redundant to say butter twice in a row, but butter is awesome and it totally deserves to be mentioned twice. The tiny Reese cups sit like little crowns on top of the fluffy frosting, making these decadent cakes fit for royalty.

(Just don't lose your head over them.)
