Sometimes it’s perfectly acceptable to wake your kid up at 9 o’clock at night for a fresh, warm, gooey chocolate chip cookie. 🍪😂

Some memories are worth breaking bedtime for.

The only rule: you still have to brush your teeth before going back to bed. 😂🪥

😂📦 Well… this might be the most South Dakota USPS delivery we’ve gotten yet.

The mail showed up looking like it had been through a little adventure of its own — crushed, wrapped in plastic, and complete with an official “WE CARE” apology from USPS. At that point, we weren’t entirely sure what was going to be left inside.

But somehow, after surviving the postal version of crossing the Atlantic… 😂

The important cargo made it!

A book on Christopher Columbus and the Enterprise of the Indies for our homeschool studies, AND a big tin of Royal Dansk butter cookies. Because obviously, you can’t learn about long voyages and exploration without provisions. 😂🍪

The cookie tin definitely took a hit and we lost a few brave sailors along the way, but most survived the journey.

Homeschooling at C&M Homestead: where sometimes the lesson shows up before you even open the book. 😂

Thanks USPS for wrapping up what was left and getting our little piece of history — and our snacks — the rest of the way home. 🇺🇸📚🍪

Our family has always believed that community means showing up for one another—especially when the weight is too heavy for one family to carry alone.

Right now, one of our own families is facing a loss no parent or family should ever have to endure. Emerson was only eight years old, but in those eight years he brought an incredible amount of joy, laughter, faith, and love into this world.

There are no words that can make a loss like this easier. But there is something we can do: surround this family with the same love and strength that makes our community what it is.

A GoFundMe has been created to help Emerson’s family as they walk through the days ahead. If you are able to give, please consider doing so. If you can’t, please share this post, say a prayer, and keep this family close to your heart.

This is when a community becomes more than neighbors, customers, friends, and familiar faces. This is when we become family.

Sometimes we get busy… 😂 Okay, maybe really busy.

This past week our driver from A-1 Sanitation went above and beyond for us. When things get hectic around the homestead and we don’t quite have everything where it needs to be, it’s sure appreciated when someone takes that little extra time to help us out.

A big SHOUT OUT to A-1 Sanitation & Recycling, LLC for the great service and for having employees who are willing to go the extra mile! 👏

Small businesses notice when other local businesses take care of their customers, and we definitely noticed this one.
