Hey everyone! If you didn’t see my stories this week, you may have wondered, “Where did Kristin go?”
Well, I was in Orlando, Florida this past week for CookieCon!
You might be asking, “Um… what?” Yeah, same. That was basically my reaction the first time I heard about it too. But CookieCon is a convention for cookie creatives, from beginner decorators to insanely talented advanced cookie artists; offering classes from decorating, to growing your skills using Procreate (which I took), to teaching classes, to working with different mediums, etc. The list goes ON and ON 😊.
My first CookieCon was in Austin, Texas two years ago, and honestly, the amount of information I picked up at that conference changed the trajectory of my business; not only my decorated cookies, but my sugar cookie decorating classes too.
This year, I focused on taking classes for freehand lettering, pressure piping, Procreate, creating beautiful frosting florals, and working with fondant accents. Yes, just the accents, because we all know how I feel about the taste and texture of fondant.
Ick.
But it sure can be pretty and give cookies that extra WOW factor 🤩!
One of my favorite things about CookieCon is the community. It is so supportive, welcoming, and creative. You can’t walk down a hallway in the convention area without someone smiling or asking, “Where are you from?” Oh and another thing this amazing community did this past week .... they got me over the hump and I'm now over 3000 followers on my business page! So, THANK YOU❣️
My creative cup is officially full, and I’m so excited to bring some of the things I learned in Florida into future orders and classes.
Here are a few highlights from my trip. And yes, when the nature trail sign says to watch out for gators and snakes, you do the smart thing: turn around and run laps around the hotel and parking lot instead. 😉
