Good morning from the Rise Above kitchen! ☀️🥖

While most of the world is still waking up, we’ve already been in the kitchen prepping a few things for later today and getting a head start on prepping for tomorrow! 👀

And judging by these two beauties this morning… I’d say they are MORE than ready to get to work. 🤣🙌🏼

There’s a whole lot of baking coming, and this is where it all starts. Happy starters, early morning prep, and a kitchen that’s about to get very, very busy. 🤍

UPDATE: I had to run back over there after breakfast and apparently the verdict is in — the Two Tomatoes crew was VERY happy with their pancakes! 🥞🥰 I think we have ourselves a winner!

A little morning adventure 🥞♥️
Took Rise Above Bakery on the road this morning and made a fresh batch of our sourdough pancakes for the crew at Two Tomatoes!

There’s something pretty special about watching a recipe that started in my own kitchen turn into breakfast for other people. 🥰

Hot, fluffy sourdough pancakes before heading back to the dental office — not a bad way to start September!

Sometimes it’s about more than making a sale. ♥️

I brought 7 bags of our new Sourdough Pancake Mix with me to work at my regular job today. Three went out as samples to my staff, three sold, and I had one little bag left.

That last bag went home with a sweet single mama and her little boy, who happens to be the same age as mine. I told her, “First bag is on the house. Take it home, try it together, and just let me know what you think.”

Because yes, Rise Above Bakery is a business. I’m incredibly proud of how quickly it’s growing, and every single order means more to me than you know.

However I never want to get so focused on sales that I forget why I started baking in the first place.

Food is love. Food is comfort. Food brings people together.

And sometimes the best thing I can do with the last bag is simply give it away. 🥞♥️

Our starters woke up happy, bubbly, and more than ready for a big day in the kitchen!

Today we’re working on something I’ve been SO extremely excited about — our Sourdough Pancake Mix! 🥞✨

We’ve been testing, tweaking, measuring, and perfecting this one because I want it to be something you can keep in your pantry and whip up whenever the craving hits. Homemade sourdough pancakes? YES PLEASE. 🙌🏻

There is something so exciting about watching Rise Above grow beyond the bread table and into products you can enjoy at home anytime. 🥹♥️

😭🥞 I’m not even going to pretend I didn’t cry over this one.

Six months ago, Rise Above Bakery was just beginning.

Tonight, I held the very first printed label for our very first packaged sourdough mix in my hands.

From dehydrating our own sourdough starter, developing and testing the recipe, making batch after batch, choosing the packaging, buying the label printer…and finally watching Rise Above Bakery — Sourdough Pancake Mix come out of that printer.

This one hit differently. ♥️

I wrote on the back of the very first label:

6 months in ♥️

And that first one is getting framed.

Because someday, when I look back at how far this little bakery has gone, I want the receipt. And tonight, I’m holding it in my hands. 😭

Six months in and we’re not just baking anymore.

We’re building something.
