Peacock Adventures

Peacock Adventures We are a premier operation targeting fresh and saltwater species in Florida, as well a host to multiple international locations across the globe.

My name is Scott Rose and I am a 26 year old graduate from the University of Miami. I grew up in New York fly fishing for brown trout, but my travels to Florida have forced me to change my way. I now guide in Miami for peacock bass and I am the current IGFA All-Tackle World Record holder for the Popoca Peacock. My passion is being outside and teaching people about the sport that I love so much. I

run a bass tracker which is perfectly suited for the fisheries I target. I am fortunate to fish almost every day year round!

Quite possibly my favorite fish yet. Had the pleasure of bringing my fiancée Rachel down to the Amazon with in pursuit of her first speckled peacock bass. She did that and a lot more. Watching her sight cast to this fish and smoke him on a glide bait was as cool as it gets. A moment that neither of us will ever forget and an absolute monster peacock, this is what dreams are made of!

Matt and Natalie came down to visit us from Colorado. They run Peak to Plains Guide Service, and were eager to check out our peacocks for the first time. We spent the whole day throwing flies and were rewarded with lots of fired up and beautiful peacocks! Biggest fish of the day came in at over five pounds and Matt and Natalie can now successfully check peacocks off the bucket list.

Yeah, it's not every day you see a peacock of this caliber. We had an opportunity to sight cast this fish on an otherwise tougher day and we made it happen. Over 7lbs on the scale, this is the sort of fish that Florida dreams are made of 👊

Lots of fun on this two day trip with Scott and his crew 👍Day 1 was peacocks and we put the beatdown on them. We put about 40 in the boat with multiple double up and triple ups. Day 2 we headed into the Everglades and it was a largemouth smash fest. Right now, 50-100 largemouth days are the norm, we are seeing some bass fishing that reminds me of the good ole days.

Lots of fun on this two day trip with some of our favorite longtime clients, John and TJ 👊. The fishing is hot again with the warming water temps. This was a bit of a weird winter, as we had a fairly significant die off in certain waterways. Luckily for us, there are lots of peacocks still around and they are hungry! We probably put around 50 in the boat over these two days.

Late in our Amazon adventure, Andrew was chasing the fish every angler dreams about on the Jurubaxi, a true giant. He’d already landed some incredible peacocks, including a 12-pounder on a chopper and a handful of other trophies, but the elusive 20 pounder was still out there in our minds. We both knew this river was the right place to pull a fish like that off.

Earlier in the week, Andrew lost one that we’re pretty sure was close to that mark. We both saw it cartwheel, and that moment kept him fired up for the rest of the trip.

Fast forward to our last afternoon: a storm rolling in, wind howling, and big swirls breaking near a point in the lagoon. A huge fish was feeding in open water. We raced over and started casting. Nothing. Five casts each — still nothing. Then we started fan-casting… I went wide left, Andrew just a bit left — and BOOM! His glide bait got absolutely crushed.

From the first run, we knew this was a special fish. The peacock tore for the bank, got wrapped for a second, but Andrew muscled it free. He did everything he could to slow it down and this fish was still inches away from beating him.

After a few wild runs beside the boat, we finally slid the net under an 18-pound, 83-centimeter Amazon giant. Andrew let out a yell that echoed across the lagoon — pure adrenaline, pure joy that I have been very lucky to see more than a few times at this incredibly special place.

A fish of a lifetime, and a moment neither of us will ever forget.

Some of the best moments on international trips are the ones I never expect. Midway through the week, a heavy rainstorm rolled in. Instead of sitting in the downpour, our guides had us reel up quickly and took us across the lagoon to a small hut the local tribe uses as a rest station along the river.

Underneath, we got a taste of jungle life. We were shown how the seeds of Achiote is used as decorative face paint, and of course, we all had to try it out. Just outside, a villager knocked down a few fruits from a nearby Abiu tree with a stick, and we got to taste something unlike anything I’ve ever eaten before—sweet, unique, and absolutely delicious.

We also took in the incredible vegetation around the hut. Uniquely patterned Rubicundum Caladium grew wild everywhere—plants that in the U.S. would sell for for about $50 each, thriving here as nothing more than weeds.

It’s easy on trips like this to get caught up in the chase for big fish, but when you pause and take in the people, the culture, and the jungle itself, that’s when some of the best memories are made.

I still have a few spots left for my trip next year, as well as several spots for 2027. I would be happy to show you all of the things that I have learned in the jungle over the last 10 years. If you are interested, shoot me a message!

Andrew had never fished a chopper before our recent Amazon trip. Our guide Carlos gave him a quick crash course and had him chopping like a semi-pro in a lagoon where we have found several big fish in years past.

Once Andrew started to get a solid rhythm, Carlos told him to cast away from the bank and out into the middle. Andrew fired his first cast… and it was instantly crushed by a giant. The fish launched the chopper back at the boat, but before I could even say a word, it charged the bait again and this time the hooks stuck.

What followed was a tense, gritty fight, and when it was over, Andrew had landed his first double-digit peacock bass ever—a beautiful 12-pounder.

This moment was extra special because Andrew was supposed to come on one of my trips years ago but had to pull out. This time, he finally made it, and watching him achieve that long-awaited goal was awesome.

That fish set the tone for him, kicking off what would become a strong week on the Jurubaxi despite the extremely high water 😎.

I have weeks reserved for this incredible fishery for the next several years. If you want to come experience a genuine trip of a lifetime, just shoot me a message.

This year, the Jurubaxi River is flooded at levels I’ve never seen in trips prior. From the moment we entered the river, I knew it was going to be tough. Small fish have vanished into the flooded forest and were impossible to catch in the trees. Luckily for us, at this location, the biggest fish still stay in open water.

On day one, as we were leaving a lagoon, I caught sight of a massive head-wake tearing across the middle of the water—a giant peacock was chasing a bicuda. Carlos, my guide, killed the motor. He grabbed an oar and quietly paddled in close. When we got within range, I fired a chopper over the wake. The first two casts came up empty and on the third he crushed it.

After a hard fight we landed him beside the only sandbar in the lagoon. We measured, snapped the photos, and he came in at over 80 cm, which is our benchmark for a true trophy peacock bass.

Fishing here is never about numbers. It’s about chasing the fish that you dream about when fishing down in the Amazon.

Plenty more photos and stories are coming. If you want to experience the Jurubaxi yourself, I have weeks set for both 2026 and 2027! Just shoot me a message or comment below.
